I actually do my cross in about 6 sec
f2l-6 sec
ll-8 sec
i think your f2l is slow .. try using a metronome or go slow look ahead ......
you can achieve sub 20 without lookahead but it'll help you in the long run

Do advanced cross. Try to find the shortest solution when inspecting. Do cross blind. You can even use Rw and F and B if that makes your cross easier. I use Bs a lot for inserting at the back. Before starting off, always make up a solution. Like I will insert the blue forst, then red, then green and then orange. Some peopl tend to make algs in their head but that is not really necessary! Can you post a video of you solving. I need to make my f2l fast :(

F2L I don't know haha my f2l is about 13 sec. I am not sub 20, about 22 is my average, but cross is like really easy I am usually sub 2 or sub 1 even on cross just find the 4 peices of your color and plan it out beforehand then you can do cross without even looking so u can be busy finding ur first f2l pair.

Edit: 13 sec for cross+f2l. F2l only is more like 11.

Edit 2: I know I need to work on LL haha I only know half off PLL.

The following combinations are well known on permutation puzzles, and there's some more general math behind them:
  • conjugates aba'
  • commutators [a, b] := aba'b'.
Consider the following:
[a, x, b] := axbx'a'xb',​
and note that [a, id, b] = aba'b' = [a, b] if id is the identical operation that leaves the puzzle unchanged.

Just skimming trough the guide I was making, I can find this structure in 5 out of 8 c-OLLs:

I'm going to look for it in some more PLL algorithms next, but wanted to get in some feedback in the meantime.

2. Maybe somebody explicitly selected algorithms with this pattern for easy memorization? I can't see it highlighted in any of the guides that try to highlight patterns in their algorithms though, like the one from badmephisto.

Have you looked at the Wiki?

Many of the [WIKI]PLL[/WIKI] algorithms also have a decomposition. For example, look at Fperm.

Practise doing your cross BLD. Take as much time as you need to plan it, but eventually try to get it within the 15 second inspection you'll have in a solve. Try to find shorter solutions; they'll make it easier to plan the cross, as well as making it faster. If you can do it BLD, then you won't be pausing during the cross and that should definitely help with improving how fast you can do it.

Times are useless without splits. However, if your lookahead is not great, then practise turning slower. Turn as slow as you need to solve the entire F2L without pauses. Gradually increase your turn speed, always trying to not pause. If you can't lookahead, the problem is that you're turning too fast. Remember to turn as fast as possible during your last layer though! I sometimes forget that :p

Splits: 2LOLL: Avg of 12: 3.57. Take it as 4 sec
PLL:AO12: 3.67. Take it as 4 sec
Cross: AO12: 2.65. Take it as 3
F2L: Slow Turning with look ahead: AO12: 8.45. Take it as 10 as when solving I tent to turn fast and minimal lookahead.
Therefore, 4+4+3+10 = 21 sec. That is my current average.
Now where to improve?
