You can just wipe off some of the pieces with a paper towel and don't add any more lube in. Just use the cube with the lube it has.
You could also try to use less lube (lube less places) when lubing the pieces next time.

Just wipe it off with a tissue or cloth, no need for detergent. You only have to wipe the outside, but if it's really really overlubed you can wipe some off of a few of the pieces too.

Im new :) And sorry to tack onto the same thread, i am looking at some notation that includes other letters such as y and Y

Considering this is a similar thread, can anyone share what that means?
 
As a total beginner, what's the best way to do finger tricks that involve a lot of RUs in a row? For example, PLL U-perm that's like R U' R U R U R U' R' U' R2? Or the beginner's method 2nd layer edge swap that's R U R U R (U' R' U' R')? I find I have to regrip the cube like 3 times because I'm not in any position to use my right index for U after several R turns, should I be using my left thumb to do some of the Us?

Alternatively, I know I won't be using beginner method 2nd layer edge swap forever, but which algorithm is better for me to practice now, in anticipation for using those finger tricks later? The R U R U one above, or the U R U' R' y U' L' U L one?

For the U-perm...
Try to see how other cubers do it by watching PLL vids or speedsolves, because you need to find a way that works for you and not necessarily do what someone tells you - as it won't work well. In any case, I fingertrick it as follows: (R U' R) U (R U R U' R' U' R2)

first bracket - R U' R, easy 3 moves no special trick
U - push with my left index, a technique used in OH a lot. This may take time to employ if you are inexperienced, so if it doesn't work at all don't feel the need to use it yet. Use this time to regrip the right hand for the next phase of the alg.

second bracket - thumb on DR, other fingers on UR to start with. Then execute.

For the edge insert I hate the <RU> alg because of the regrips and stuff (I would only use it for OH and to skip OLL). The second one is fine. Don't be deterred by rotations or L moves, if you can develop both of those you will have a great strength.

Learn proper F2L. It's really worth it.

I agree that F2L is worth it, but I'm trying not to overwhelm myself right now. I have so much to practice right now that I'm leaving F2L until my average is lower. I need to be faster recognizing the 2-look LL cases (PLL in particular, I find I have to rotate the cube numerous times before I can decide if it's H-perm, Z-perm, or which of the U-perms), and I need to be faster executing the algorithms I do know.

I've tried watching a few speedsolves, but the cubers are just so fast that I can't really learn anything from watching it. I don't see where they regrip the cube and I can't really see which fingers they use to do certain moves. It would be pretty helpful to watch a video of someone performing a common algorithm starting slow and gradually speeding up, but I haven't come across any video like this.
