For the megaminx advanced technique, is it mainly just intuition for everything up until the last layer? I can do it but it takes me a while, do I just need to practice it over and over doing one face at a time and rotating? Also, do most advanced people(aka Westlund) use the full pll or the sort of two look edge orientation corner orientation then permutation?

It's F2L up until the LL. Simon uses a full PLL but not full OLL (as he said at Worlds). You can get really fast with a 2LLL.... Id say you dont need a full PLL to get fast (coz thats a ton of algs to learn )

For the most part, it's all about intuition and looking ahead in the "F2L" stage, and I suck at it...

Whether hand scramble or "official" scramble mega minx scrambles tend to be weak. During F2L when you find a corner piece start scanning the same area for it's edge. They usually don't end up far apart.

In this video, how does he do the "insertion" at 2:05? I just can't seem to be able to do this(megaminx). Either my piece comes up backwards, or I have to do an F2 turn.

Get a gen 2, make sure it has a data port. You can find one on eBay.. You'll have to hunt for it though. You can tell it has a data port if it has the extra arrow button things in addition to power and reset. Stay away from the pro timers with your life. To connect to a computer, you'll need a 2.5 to 3.5mm audio cable. Or, you can use an ordinary aux. cable and put a 2.5mm adapter on it. Hope this helps!
