V4 is fine. I think I heard somewhere that V3 is easier to mod with. I'm not sure. You can't really go wrong with v3 or v4. Goodluck

The One Answer Question Thread

What do you think is faster/more useful?

Full OLL and Full PLL or Orient edges, COLL, EPLL? Are there any other LL methods that go with CFOP and don't require lots of algorithms?

When cfopping i do EO control to COLL and EPLL or simply do CLL=>ELL. Its kinda fast.

Does anyone know of a way to tell if the corners permutation of cube (3x3 in my case) is solvable 2 gen (without cube rotations) that could be done during inspection time? You would have to assume that the already have 2 adjacent corners solved in relation to eachother. I'd appreciate it if a way to get the permutation of corners solvable by 2 gen was provided aswell.

I heard v4 is a lot more locky though. v3 is the most common.

How could COLL be useful for BLD?

You'd be surprised at how many BH algs are actually COLL, or vice versa. Although I said that with EPLL (TuRBo) in mind.

I know stickerless cubes are illegal in competition, but do you think it's much of a problem to set UWR with a stickerless? It's unofficial after all so there can't be anything bad about using a stickerless, is there?

If you don't use the "advantage" of the stickerless cube, I think that's alright. Maskow used them for his 32/32 UWR (they were allowed at that time, though)

You would only really gain an advantage on a 3x3 If you were 'slow' an by the time you had built up decent recognition using the internal pieces, you would probably be to fast for it to be an advantage. but an advantage is an advantage, and I guess it's just not worth taking that risk. As for the UWR, I doubt anyone would claim it to be illegitimate, bearing in mind I'm pretty sure 5blds UWR ao100 was using keyboard timing.

I have 2 v4's, one modded, and they are both awful compared to the v3. They feel like a much lesser grade of plastic. Locking and popping frequently. I would call my stock v4 unusable, where as the v3 was great out the box.

Is there a record of number of times one gets 1/2 in MBLD? I'm pretty sure I'd get that 'UWR' though, today is my ~18th failure.

I think those are your cubes. Many of my friends own modded and unmodded v4s, and they're just as good as my v3.

That's sort of what I think... UWRs are... well... unofficial. Anyone could just do a special scramble they've practiced on a lot and make it look like a real solve. If they really wanted to lie about something like that, they could potentially get UWR for a 3x3 single solve. I'm just trying to figure out if a lot of people would disapprove of me using a stickerless cube for a sighted solve, film it, and call it UWR. My stickerless is my fastest cube and I'm pretty sure I'm not using any of the supposed "advantage", but if it's going to make people say, "Oh, but it was a stickerless..." then maybe I would consider using a normal officially acceptable cube to avoid argument.
