I'm learning Yau method for 4x4. But I ran into a little problem. If I have two unsolved edges in the end, how do I solve them? I have just used my "own" alg i came up with myself. But if I use it here, I don't see how I can keep the cross intact. Anyone got a sweet alg?

I line them up so the FLU wedge is the same color as the FRU wedge (and the FLD and FRD wedges are the same), then do:

d R U R' U' F' U F d'

Not sure if this is optimal, or if someone has a better way.

Just think of it as setting them up so that when you slice them over, they won't solve but they push the other pair away. Set it up, slice over and flip using R U R' F R' F' R.

So, quick question, I have recently been posting in some race threads under the forum competitions section. And I use csTimer, and I'm not sure if it is just a malfunction in csTimer or if I am just confused. Probably the latter. Anyway, what is the difference between the average of 12 and the mean of 12? I always thought they were the same? But everytime the average and mean are just a little different. After I do the math manually, the mean is always the correct one.
Here is an example of what I mean:

You see the ao12 is different form the mean, and I always thought they were the same.

The average takes out the best and worst solves and takes the mean of the ones in between, while the mean just takes the mean of all the solves.

I think when the program takes the average of your solves, it takes out the highest and the lowest times. So say you had an average of 5, right? The program takes out the best and worst time and takes the sum of the remaining 3 solves and divides by 3. The mean is just all of the 5 added together, divided by 5.
