TL;DR advantages of colour neutrality for Roux? and how to use it well

ok so for cfop i was colour neutral, and i remember seeing a few posts in a thread where Roux users were talking about how sexy colour neutrality would be. i am currently U/D colour fixed (white/yellow) since any time i find a CE pair during inspection, it obviously includes either white or yellow already. it helped to blockbuild with the same colour scheme so i didn't have to think as much just to make a block.

and now that my blockbuilding is fine, im wondering about the advantages of being colour neutral. from what i understand, i would need to find all 5 pieces of the first block to determine what colour scheme i'll be using. but more specifically, i identify the fastest 1x2x2 block and see which CE pair i should attach to it, if a full first block isn't apparent. is that right? lol im confused.

cause in CFOP, obviously i would find the 4 cross edges of a certain colour, and maybe white has an 8 move cross but red has 4. in roux, unless there's a really easy first block, i feel like the advantage is usually not much.

another question, i should be looking ahead to 4b during CMLL right? i've been doing it a bit and it's a little more than my brain wants to handle at once.
