Perms - what are they
Hi, had a question. Everywhere i look people are talking about A-perm, V-perm, T-perm, etc. I was wondering what they were. I use 2 look oll, and 2 look pll.
I think they are different names for the pll algorithms, but im not sure, and if they are, how do you tell which algorithms are what letter?

If you use 2 look PLL, the perms (permutations) you know are Aa, Y, Ua, Ub, H and Z, or something like that.
The other permutations are used in 1 look PLL.
They are usually named after what letter they kind of look like.
Look up PLL on the speed solving wiki, then check out all the different kinds/names.

Hey! I was wondering what websites you would consider good for tutorials explained in an easy and efficient way for beginners at speedsolving

When doing megaminx, how do you find the "F2L" pieces quickly? It takes me forever, especially at the beginning.
Also, for LL, what I do is oriend edges, then permute edges using sune variants. Then I usually do a niklas to rotate some corners and then flip the cube over and do it like Erik's beginners 3x3 CO - sexy moves. Then I do sexy moves to permute the corners. Is this fine for now (~6 minute average) or should I learn something else?

you might as well learn the more "advanced". basically , for LL build 5 edge star(?), orient corners, permute edges( there's a few algs but really they're simple), you can use j perm, t perm to do them. and there's another simple alg. for corner permutation. it hard to explain but you literally take a corner out ff the ll and move the ll and put the corner in its spot, and repeat

Speed Stacks Timer Won't Function
Hello,
I have not cubed since 2009, and when I opened my draw of cubes today it made me want to get back into it
But when I went to turn on my timer, this is what was displayed:

It is just stuck on this screen, and no matter what I press it will not get off of this screen. I have tried taking the battery out and putting it back in, but that doesn't do anything. I was wondering if anyone had experienced this before, and you might know how to fix it?

You'll probably need to change the battery and reset the timer. If you pull the timer apart (you know how it snaps into 2 piecces to fit on the stackmat?) then you should be able to find a little hole that says "RESET" under it. For me it's next to the battery spot/box, but I don't have the v2 timer like you do. You'll need to get a pen or a wire or something thin and push it in there to reset the timer. Then you can try putting in a new battery and turning it on. See if that works.
I hear that the calvin puzzle sq1 is the best. I've also heard that the MF8 v1 is great, the MF8 v2 is terrible, and that the MF8 v2 is awesome.
I have an MF8 v2, and it's pretty nice. It's a little tight, especially at first, but once you lube it it gets much better.

Definitely the New Mefferts Speed Pyraminx.
It's much better than the QJ, but it takes a while to break in. Once it does break in though, it's flipping amazing.

What's the best megaminx for a beginner? One that's cheap(er), turns smoothly, corner cuts and rarely locks up.

Is there any other brand of Cube's tile than Cubesmith?
I was looking for tiles, but the only brand that I find is Cubesmith (and C4Y that you also need to buy his terrible cube). I wanna know if there's other brand that have international shipping and have good quality. I don't know, I feel that paying 50% of the price of the stickers just for the shipping is too much...
PS: I don't wanna buy a cheap cube with those cheap plastic tiles and cannibalize it...

You could just buy a bunch of tiles for the future. iirc cubesmith has free shipping on orders over $15.
Or you could just use stickers.

ok, I'm gonna sound dumb here, but what is a M turn and what is a M' turn? I mean the algs I use that involve M use the clockwise M when viewed from the R side, however I see lots of people on this sight say it's the other way around... clarification please!!!
