Hey guys, I did the 48 Point Edge mod on my GuHong about a month ago and it became really smooth and quiet. However, last week I noticed the clickiness that comes with a unmodded GuHong had come back. It's not really a bad thing, I just noticed that it's now clicky like a Zhanchi, rather than a GuHong. Is there a reason this could have happened?

Vcube kind of cordoned off a market with its patents and whatnot, so what's the deal with ko's that many speed cubebs still use (SS, Yj, yuxin) and why are we not allowed to discuss where to buy knock offs?

I love how the reply to this post said we just dont promote Knock-off's then the next post was asking what a good 5x5 is and the one after that said ShengShou :)
The things that's changed in the last year is that it's really hard to say exactly what a knock off is. Almost all the new cubes use some kind of variation of the V-cube mech - but with enough differences that it becomes arguable if it is a knock off or not. I think if we took a hard line about it we wouldn't be able to discuss any new cubes anymore, so it's become very grey. I don't think there are rules saying we can't talk about knock offs anymore, but still for the obvious cases (like the x-cube 7x7 (not the fabled cubic one)), it's polite not to promote them.

Did you lube it right after the mod? If so, it might just be the lube wearing out.

I've been watching some videos of fast cubers with reconstructions done by other viewers. I use a green cross not White so using the scramble provided I want to reconstruct the solve to see how faster people than myself do their f2l cases.

However I am not sure of the correct orientation to hold the cube in when scrambling and beginning the solve. If anyone understands my problem (poorly explained) help would be appreciated.

generally the orientation when people do scrambles (and i believe is "WCA" standard for competitions) is you do it with the orientation of green in front, white on top

then solving do whatever you feel like, because there's not "correct" orientation for solving, especially if you're color neutral

What about pyraminx? I never really know how to hold it to scramble.

Usually the scrambles will tell you how to hold it. EX. scramble U,L,R,B',L',R,r,u the small letters are for the tips and the big letters are for the inner tips

He means orientation.
WCA Regulations said:
4d) Cube puzzles must be scrambled with the white (or the lightest colour by default) face on top and green (or the darkest adjacent face by default) on the front.
It doesn't specify for non-cubic puzzles, so I just hold pyra however I pick it up.

Would it still count if a cap fell off?

A cap or 2 is fine I think.

What does the cubing community consider fast, average and slow at speedcubing?

It varies as standards improve, I'd say sub 13 is fast 13-30 average sup 30 is 'slow', but I can imagine everyone would have a different opinion on that. Though a common belief is that sub-10 is a major goal/achievement.
