You could have 3 in any case, 4 in certain cases. 5 is never acceptable, though.

4 off in any case but 2 opposite centers left is ok (in theory)

MF8 + Dayan 4x4 question

I just spent like 3 hours lubricating my MF8 + Dayan 4x4. I did one solve, and it is too tight. How would you suggest I loosen it without destroying the lube?

I loved mine out of the box, and since then I have not modded my shengshou but I've tensioned it and lubed it and I still love it. No doubt that it would be better if I modded it, but I don't feel it's necessary for myself.

It's not at all like the v-6 where it's unusable if it's not modded, modding is optional. It makes the cube a lot better but it's still good out of the box.

It'll be good out of the box, but I highly recommend at least doing the Konsta mod to reduce lockups. It will probably take 30 minutes maximum, and it's definitely worth it.

I'm easily sub 20 at the moment. I average from 16-18 seconds. I'm currently learning full OLL (42 algs now) and trying to use X - cross and edge control in my solves. I have no idea how to preserve a pair or how to make X -crosses. All the X- crosses I make are mostly by accident or really really easy and usually occur about once in 500 solves maybe.

Could anyone give me some advice on what I should be doing and how I can improve overall?

Are you color neutral? Not all cube states allow for an easy x-cross. You may find that creating one will cost you significantly more time than you would save. If, however, you are color neutral, you can greatly increase the chances of finding a good case.

Not yet, the closest that have came are the crazy 4x4(3) & the v-cube7 dazzler but there not fully stickerless or not solvable like a normal cube.
