Even my Rubik's 4x4x4 was improved out of sight with some olive oil. Great stuff...

However, now I'm looking for a 4x4x4 that has coloured plastic instead of stickers. I have a Zhan Chi, and a Whit-two, which both look the same.

Like this, but 4x4x4. Any suggestions?
I ruin stickers....

I have very big problem with my MF8 square-1 vII(with ball core). Twist moves are good not as smooth like in cubetwist but its good. But U and D layers turn terrible. It's so hard to turn. Everyone say mf8 square-1 is the best choice and cubetwist square pop too much. Its true it pop like hell sometimes but wtf i thought mf8 will be much better in fact i just lost money for crapy cube. is there anything what can I do?

I had the same problem. Do you have any lubix or differential oil? Just put some of that on the pieces and it will turn amazingly. Lots of cubes need lube (even just a tiny bit helps) before they are good.

My mf8 square works after lubing it. This was so easy to solve the problem and I didnt think about it. It turns really good now.

another question: is there any tutorial or method that can help me solve intuitive last 2 edges on 5x5 and 6x6. No algs just invtuitive pairing

Except for parity, yeah. You just slice to place the edge, then flip the whole tredge/quedge (I just made that word up. 4-edge), then undo the slice move.

List of notable ZZ solvers? Does asmallkitten use ZZ? How many sub20 solvers are there?

I'm looking at my WCA stats and wandering whats with the black bold times like my 13.89 2x2 AVG that i did at Us Nat. 2011?

http://www.worldcubeassociation.org/results/p.php?i=2010WOMA01

The orange results (the ones that are not black bold times) are personal bests for you; the black times are ones that are not personal bests. Since you've improved on most events at most competitions, it looks like the black times are the special ones, but actually it's the orange times that are supposed to be the special ones.

Mine feels the same, I'm going to try this. I'll be back with results! :) Hopefully it'll get better.

Edit: Finished and it's much better. Still a little stiff, but not at all difficult to turn.

Shapeways Material and Lubix

I have recently ordered a couple of puzzles from Shapeways. I lubricate almost all of my puzzles with Lubix, but all of my puzzles thus far have been standard PVC/ABS (or like) plastics. The Shapeways materials sounds kinda like Styrofoam, which is porous.

Is the Shapeways material somewhat porous?
Does Lubix work on puzzles made from Shapeways?

So no matter how tight I make my QJ pyraminx, the tensions manage to get looser (within 10 solves) and it starts popping almost every solve. How can I fix this? Or is it just so broken in that it's just going to be like this?

Tech question here.

I have a 2005 HP pavilion Desktop with windows XP media addition.

My problem is, I have a few webcams that are installed but no program is displaying video no matter what the settings are.

This problem happens no matter what I do, I uninstall both software for programs and the camera it self, didn't work. Not even the youtube webcam recorder is displaying video.

Any ideas?

Webcams are:

CIF Single Chip
and Playstation Eye

PS yes EYE does work on PC as my friend uses it all the time.

it sounds like your inputs ino your software are messed up. i guess you've already searched through settings so my recomendation is to uninstall the hardware, reinstall it and make it the default cam. then it should just automatically work for your software

Any tips on 4x4 edge pairing faster? I've done alot of solves for a few weeks and my times are still at 1:45-2:00. My centers take about 20-25 seconds, 3x3 step is about 30-35( includes parity). Looking for either a new edge pairing method, or a quicker way to recognize or execute. I use 2-2-2-2-2-2 edge pairing atm.

I have a burning question. When I had started cubing I had used a Rubik's brand cube. Averaging out at about 4 minutes I wanted a stronger cube. I switched to the Dayan GuHong and my time became 2 minutes. After months of practice on beginners method I am averaging at about one minute. Recently I heard that Dayan cubes are only for times way below 1 minute. Should I switch to something like a Type F-I, or should I stay with the Guhong, or should I switch to the ZhenChi?

People do say that, why though I am still unsure, use whatever you want to... You can try a Zhanchi or other cubes if you want, but the guhong is a great cube too. I would work on learning a better method (like CFOP/fridrich) rather than worry about which cube you are using. If you are using a Guhong currently you probably won't be able to improve your times by more than like 5 seconds by switching cubes. It is not the biggest contributor to your times atm is what I am getting at.

what's the best OH h-perm?

i know R2U2R2U2R2UR2U2R2U2R2U', but that alg makes me cry on the inside.

is the usual M'2U'M'2U'2M'2U'M'2 alg any good when you have a table and mat to work with?

Starting with a 6 is never a bad idea.

Well Kirjava just posted a video of himself doing the M2 H-perm one handed in about 1.6 seconds. It's always worth a shot.
