When im inspecting my cube, how do i look for my first F2l pair after ive planned out my cross?
Try do the cross on bottom, and if there is a pair, try to preserve it, this is called x-cross forced. In my PB I did this :)

I want to know if there is a specific method for "fewest moves"?

if so then cubsmith would be selling 8x8 sets now

Don't be stupid. Cubesmith orders giant sticker sheets in huge bulk. One ever 15 days the guy goes to a sticker cutting machine IN THE DAMN CITY HE LIVES IN and cuts out all the stickers from the past 15 days and sends them out the next day.

But doesn't cubesmith make their own stickers?

In a way yes but in a way no.

Is the cube competition legal if there's tape over stickers that are peeling like crazy? Right now the BOY corner on my 2x2 has 1 piece of tape on it and feels different from all the other stickers.

I'm mostly wondering if they're going to say something like you know its the BOY corner because you can feel the tape.

It's likely that you won't be able to use your cube, but if your stickers are that bad, just order some new ones and resticker the cube.
