I interpreted it as affecting the centre, period. Meaning, no switching, no twisting. As in yours, if you add a U' at the end (so it's parity), it twists the centre in place. That being said, I don't know if he's looking for a J-perm from parity.

edit:

I'm not 100% sure if I'm right, but a J-perm is parity because you're swapping 2 edges and 2 corners, and cannot be solved with a commutator (unless you add in AUF; closest I can get is F2[r2, D' L2 D]), and you have to twist a centre in place in order to solve it, as far as I know.
Why do you need one anyway? Trying to solve a supercube?

ahh now I understand what you mean okay yeah my alg doesn't work

This week has been SPECTACULAR! I finally got a desk in my room so not I have a great surface and lighting to cube in. I was averaging about 23ish last week this time. I just did 5 averages of 12, the highest was 21.01 seconds. Each average had at least four sub20 solves and three of the five averages had 6 sub 20 solves. My new PB average of 12 is 19.54 seconds and a new PB single of 14.92.

My look ahead has improved drastically, but I do have a question. I can hear some of you reading the first part going, "This should be in the Accomplishment Thread not OAQT!" but fear not, there is a question! While my look ahead has come leaps and bounds the past week, I still have to focus hard on looking ahead. How long did it take your look ahead to become second nature?

For example, when I first learned fingertricks I had to really focus on doing them during the solve, now they just happen. Will this eventually happen with my look ahead, or will it be something that I'll always have to consciously think about doing during the solve?

^ There isn't an easy answer for this. Everything gets better with practice obviously, but in order to improve, you'll always have to think of something. If you don't push yourself you won't improve.

As you get faster, you'll start trying to predict more things and look-ahead even faster so you'll always kind of think about it. Maybe not as much as you do now since you're still getting rid of the habit of looking at the pieces you're solving at the moment, but you'll still have to focus. Then after some improvement, your current level of look-ahead will look effortless.

Congratulations on your achievement by the way.

breaking it in helps the most, also I've heard jigaloo is particularly good for the SS 4x4.

Just keep practicing, or even just spamming moves, especially M slice stuff.

What cubes benefit from a Core change?

I've seen some mods on Youtube where the core of the cube is changed like the Guhong so I was just wondering which cubes benefit from a core change and why or is it a waste of time?

You mean the actual core? or the centerpiece? if the core its just better if its is deteriorating. No cube really benefits in speed or abilities.

Hybrid cubes have really gone out of fashion. Now a days people will only recommend a core change if your old one is broken. Though that could change when lubix start selling metal cores... They could eliminate any chance of crooked screws.

That chance can also be eliminated, without spending a lot money on something useless, by screwing in properly (putting the center piece flush with the core when you screw it in and then checking).

Good point, I was thinking of preassembled cubes. Also I didn't mean to suggest that metal cores ideal, I'm waiting to hear reviews before I try one.
