Just got my zhanchi and its really tight, and it seems that the screws are stuck and wont loosen with my screw driver D: anyone know how to do this or am i not supposed to adjust it?
i bought one and it was loose its just that u have to turn like REALLY hard to move the screws, but once u move them they turn easily. so if it seems like its jammed it isnt u just have to put some elbow gease into it

Hey guys. Assuming I'm a complete noob (well I really am) at 4x4, but know CFOP for 3x3, what method do you guys recommend I learn and how? I've heard of yau, reduction and K4, but have not the slightest clue about them. However, I've also heard of the really fast 4x4-ers using methods such as 1-2-2-2-1 (can't really recall the numbers) edge pairing.

Does someone mind explaining the difference between such methods and the normal yau/reduction/K4? Also, just curious, what method do the fast people like faz and sebastian use? Thankyu. (:.

You can start with whatever method you find interesting. But the most straightfoward transition from 3x3 to 4x4 could be the reduction method. K4 requires some thinking, which is great if you like to think. And yau is not a method per se, but a variation on how/when to solve edges when using reduction.

The 1-2-2-2... thing is a step of the reduction method where you pair up the edges. The numbers are just to describe how many edges you pair up for every Uw-Uw' or Rw-Rw' move yo do. Yo will understand once you learn it.

I think faz uses reduction and he pairs up two edges at the time. But remember that it is the cuber who gets the times, not the method.

Guy's, ignore this "Daniel Dees" person. Seem's to me to be a fairly obvious troll.

To Daniel Dees, if you are in fact genuine, go back and re-read some of the previous posts answering the same questions you're re-asking!

is this normal for a ss 5x5 to get stuck like this?

One of lubix's mods with there Wittwo is to attach one of the corners to the core. What exactly is this supposed to do? Like what is the advantage of that?

I haven't seen inside the WitTwo yet, but I'm pretty sure that's a mistake on the website, 2x2's generally already have one corner fixed to the core (this prevents the core misaligning). I'd be really surprised to find out the WitTwo didn't already have that.

They do not attach it. One piece is fixed to the core, and other pieces orbit around it.
They only lube it, tension it and sticker it.

why dont more people use cll/ell with edge control? because once you do the CLL then you already can look for what kind of edge perm it is, so that cuts down on recognition there and edge perms are usually pretty fast. while CLL and OLL seem to be easy enough to switch and, (I dont know enough of each to tell if recognition is easier for CLL or OLL) they both tend to be on the 'shorter' end of the move count spectrum so the execution time is still about the same.

Thoughts? or am I being dumb?

Well it's a perfectly viable option. few things, if you're doing full edge control (always having edges orientated after F2L) then that's a bit of extra work (more moves and longer spent recognising the cases). If you're not ending with oriented edges every time then you'll already need to know OLL (and sometimes when you know full OLL learning another set of 40 algs may seem too much), if you don't know full OLL then you're needing to do the first part of 2-look to orientate the edges before CLL/EPLL, which is probably slower than just doing OLL. Also generally speaking the COLL algs aren't always as nice as all the OLL's, if you have an awkward sune case it would sometimes be much quicker to just do sune and then deal with whatever PLL you have. Also with COLL since you have to look at first the pattern, then the colours within it to identify the case, it's a fraction trickier than just looking at the OLL pattern (though I presume when you get really good that becomes negligable... but for someone as slow as me that's a big time hit for recognition). But there is certainly nothing stopping you from doing COLL/EPLL, personally I'm going to learn COLL cases for the OCLL cases that I don't like (Pi,superman, H) after I've finished learning 2x2 CLL, but I'm not convinced I'll use them that often.
