sorry if this has been answered before, and I have searched some but couldn't find a definite answer: My Zhanchi's center caps fall off once in a while, and if I was in a competition and one or more center caps fall of in the middle of the solve, do I have to put the center cap(s) back on or can I just continue solving as normal and stop the timer when the cube is solved with the center caps off?

If a cube is considered solved with the center caps on, then it is also solved without center caps on.

Up to 3 caps off no matter what is fine. 4 is okay as long as the 2 left aren't opposite. However I find it really screws up recognition

I use double flick and do japanese finger tricks.... though im not as good as you at OH i avg 26~27. Why is it better to do single flicks?(just curious)

Well assuming that you do the double flick with pinky then ring finger,
position your ring finger in front of the DFR piece, which is where it is after an R2, and then try to do a U using Japanese fingertricks. Its super awkward and its very difficult to to bend both the ring finger and the index finger forward at the same time. Because of this you end up having a pause after the R2 that is generally longer than the pause in between an R R.
Of course this only applies to R2 U and not R2 U' or R2 U2.

No?

5b5) If, after the solve, non functional parts of the puzzle are still defect (like a centre cap of a cube) or not fully rotated (like a 5x5x5 centre piece twisted in its spot), but the puzzle is otherwise unambiguously solved, the puzzle is considered solved. (discretion of the main judge)

Dan, I respectfully keep with what I said. As long as you have 2 adjacent caps on, you know what the other colors should be. If you have 1 cap on (or 2 opposite) then you don't know which one should be where. AKA othereise unambiguously solved. If you don't know which cap goes where, how is it unambiguously solved?

has anyone tried cubesmith textured tiles with: regular white/blue/red/yellow, fluorescent orange, and light green on their cube? how is recognition with it?
wanted a 1/2 bright set but cubesmith doesn't have those in tiles and i think the red/orange and blue/green textured tiles look too alike from the picture.

seriously? no one?

How far do you go to avoid cube rotations during F2L? See the case below, but imagine holding it from the other side so that the red-blue pair is at back left. The 2 options I have are y'U2L'U'LRU'R' or LU'L'U2L'ULU'L'U'L. The first is shorter but the second avoids the rotation. So what would you choose? Or is there a faster alg that avoids the rotation?

I just go and do the longer one. Cube rotations mess up my grip :p

What about U' L' U L U' L U' L2 U L?

OK, what if you add U2 to that case so it's already set up for a rotation and then a 6 move insertion. The longer alg is then 12 moves. You'd still do the long one to avoid the rotation? So difficult to make these decisions.

Lol its really hard to give you an answer for that one..If the alg is more than 10 moves, i usually go for a rotation

Metronome on Stackmat timer?

Guys, what do you thing about putting a built in metronome on the Stackmat Timer for alg practice? I emailed them the idea what do you think? If it's a good idea email them too.
