how do you teach a little one how to solve a cube? i tried to teach my little sister but i couldn't explain it well?

I will make a guide on this one day, but as for now I could do it through private messages. I was teaching my little half sister how to solve one (ADHD to the extreme to add to the challenge....), and I could do it pretty simply. I had to stop after oll though because she moved...

Ok, I started with OLL (weird huh?). I started with recognizing the shapes for each kind of thing. Starting with EO, There was Bar, solved, Dot, and L. She would simply tell me where to put the shape (not how to solve it yet!) and what it is called. Then there is CO. I made up some names for each one (although I left anti sune, sune, and double sune as she liked the strange name). I also made up a way to remember the way they go. I would give her a random case and she would tell me what the name of it is and the way that it goes. (For headlights, she would put it like she was driving the car and the headlights pointed forward!) I taught her anti sune using the BR pair. We learned it like this: Down, Over, Up, Over, Down, Over, Over, Up. (This corresponded to R' U' R U' R' U2 R). I then taught her sexy move, as that is fun because it is very easy to do. I told her to just practice doing R U R' U' Over and Over to see how fast she could go. Then I showed her how to solve each of the edge cases using it (f sexy f', F sexy F', F sexy S sexy f') And then we had to stop, but she got oll! Ill go ahead and write up a guide if anyone else is interested and post it as a thread.

can someone tell me what to improve
/me hopes this is a joke.

Genius!

What i need, i'll start with the patterns an shapes!!
btw i will also get a pyra for us.

Thanks :) Pyraminx should be fun too. Id teach her how to get all centers to a layer, then add edges. Figure out which one of the last 3 edges is oriented correctly and flip the other two. Then use sune to get the rest. I cant think of a specific way to show shapes and things, but Sune on a pyraminx has a distinctive look, and it could be fun to try to find all of the X color that you are solving as the first layer.

I am typing up the guide right now by the way :)

Wow. I have not seen a thread this big in my life...

Anyway, how do you re assemble edges on the 4x4x4 cube from Puzl? I cant put it back together having taken 2 edges and 2 corners off to lube a stiff face. Anyone who has this please help. Thanks

Ok, I figured I would offer feedback even though you havent answered yet (It is no problem, it hasnt been that long)
I am guessing from the fact that this is your only post so far that you have a rubiks brand. From what I remember, you have to make sure the side that has the last two centers on it has one of those quarter circles cut out. If not, bring the centers up from a separate side. And then... The edges. From what I remember, 4x4 rubiks edges are the biggest pain to put back together EVER. You just pop one side in and then push as hard as you can until it goes in. You should push on the bottom of the front side of the piece so that the pressure is in, not on the part that would break the piece.

If it is a Dayan-Mf8, the centers will just pop in, and the edges will also just pop right in after that.

If it is a mini QJ, centers first, and the edges are a bit of a pain to put in (like the rubiks brand, it is non spring loaded ball core)

If it is a Shengshou, put the edges in first by kind of twisting them in. the centers can just be popped in afterwards

I hope this helped, I own all 4 (well until my mini qj and dayan mf8 went missing ';..;')

Insane respect for learning that much in one day!

Have you tried 2x2 CLL yourself? The algs are generally really short; they are much easier to learn quickly than regular 3x3 algs. I learned 2x2CLL in 3 days (though of course I already knew 7 because of OCLL, plus niklas and probably a few more that are 3x3 algs). Though I've forgotten two of the L algs because I haven't practiced 2x2...
