Yeah I don't think learning algorithms before a competition would really be bad... If you're not fast enough with them, don't use them, and if you are fast enough, use them... I have to learn 3 more PLLs and my first competition is next Saturday.

Three algs in that time frame is totally doable. Especially PLLs which are, from my experience, the easiest to learn.

5. Corners - U, T, or J PLL alg

whaa? U perm doesnt affect 2x2..
Anyway, if you are going for transition to beginner CFOP for 3x3, I recommend learning A perm for corners over T or J perms because it is both shorter and more intuitive and accomplishes the same thing for corner-only PLL.

The original question was for something to make for easy transition into CFOP; Sune OLL + CPLL is better for that kind of transition than Niklas + Sune OLL.

Should I do W-Shapes and All Corners Oriented subsets because there's only two and they'll be easier to recognize than one of the larger subsets?

I say definite yes yes yes to this because the algs are really sexy

(here if you set up cube doing (r U r' (sexy 5 times) r U' r')

Protip: 1 inverse sexy = sexy 5 times ;)

Yea I remember seeing the vid of that solve. It was great how the announcer was saying how he had the 3x3 WR just as he broke the 4x4 single lol

Where's the cheapest place I can buy a Stackmat Timer. I know they're expensive but $11 shipping on a $30 toy with no weight to it is a little pricey.

I don't think there is any algorithms to do it because they would be too long.

The best way to make it is just solve it normally but insert the edge which is on the opposite side of the minx. It takes alot longer then usually but it is fun to do on bigger puzzles such as gigaminx.

There shouldn't be any parity I think.

Yes there is, at least if you want to put every edge sticker on the opposite face (15 edge swaps = odd parity). But some other "checkerboards" should be possible without disassembling the megaminx.

Niklas is an OLL alg, right? so how come you have it set for PLL?

and yes, I understand that sune rotates corners and leaves their permutation unaffected. But I just tried to PLL with niklas, and it took me a few minutes to understand it, and I dont think a nube could figure it out easily.

It's in Dan Brown's tutorial. I think it's safe to say that a newb could work it out. Simply put the solved corner in UFR, and do Niklas until they're in the right places.
