Ok, I think I'll have to go with the second one, has less lockups for me, and it's easier to remember.

I solve my F2L on the left, and I can get 15-17 second averages. I've been thinking if my F2L times will lower to less than 10 seconds if I switch to cross on bottom, but that would take a long time to get used to. I average around 20 seconds with cross on bottom.

I average 11 seconds on F2L with cross on left (including cross). What should I do?

Stick with what you like.

You have three options.

1. Keep cubing with cross on left. Tomasz does this.
2. Switch to cross on bottom. It will take some time to get used to.
3. Use a different method, preferably one that doesn't use a cross.

Out of all options, number 1 seems the best to me, for you.

Stick to left, not much difference actually

Ok, thanks. I realize that Tomasz still uses Cross on left, but it seems that it would be very hard to get to a sub-10, or anything near that, average, as Tomasz has probably been cubing much longer than I have.

Thank you anyway!

It's hard to get sub-10 with any method.

For BLD, what is visual memo? Is it just looking at a piece and remembering it's there? I see it referenced a lot.

The way I memo is by tapping the piece and them tapping the next one, and then just trying to repeat it blindfolded (like I'm playing Simon or something). Is there a name for that? Is that just completely stupid? :o
You callin' me stupid!?! Jk. That's the way I do it, when visual fails me, but I sort of migrated away from tapping when I kept DNFing. I think visual is just looking at a piece and remembering that it's going somewhere, or seeing a pattern in the pieces in the cycle (like the next four are on left side). If not, they are closely related. I also believe tapping to be a group of visual, though I'm not sure. If not, it basically implies the same kind of reasoning, except visual is usually more advanced.
