So I've just re-essembled (however you spell it) my Eastsheen 4x4. And the tension is totally like messed up, if I tighten it, the cube won't move. If I loosen it, the cube will just break into a million pieces. What do I do?

Tighten each side up all the way. Then loosen each side gradually... e.g. loosen all the sides by a 1/4 turn. This will give you equal tension, which is what you want. If 1/4 turn is too much, then tighten it 1/8th. You just need to experiment.

...This is an ES 4x4x4 he's talking about, not a 3x3x3.

Unfortunately, I don't own an ES 4x4, so I don't know how it works. :/ I had heard somewhere that there were screws on the cube to adjust the tension, so I (incorrectly?) assumed that there was a different screw for each side, and therefore would be adjustable like a normal DIY.

Ohoho, I have had many eastsheen cubes. :p

Yeah, it's "adjustable" to a degree, but you're best leaving it on the original setting or a somewhat tight setting.

Careful though, you might strip the spindle. (:<
Which has happened to me twice.
2 times on a 4x4, once on a 5x5.

Consider the following. L6E for Roux, orientation does not matter, just permutation. the L&R edges are in DB and DF, in no particular order. Centers can be in any order. How many positions are there?

I tried doing it like this; The L&R edges could be positioned in 1 of 2 ways. Centers are 4. U layer edges have 12 possible positions. So a total of 96. It should be 48, where am I going wrong?

I don't think anyone answered this, and I'm probably not right here, but I'll throw in what I see. You said "the L&R edges are in DB and DF, in no particular order.", implying that their position is negligible in the positions, but then factored in the 2 to the final number. Unless I'm misunderstanding the question, that would be your 96? Or I'm just an idiot, either one.

But then wouldn't that also mean that he shouldn't count the centers according to how he worded it?

Either way, it doesn't matter because you could do this another way, saying that the number of permutations of the edges on U is 4! (disregarding parity), and the number of permutations of centers is 4, and since that determines the permutation of the edges on D (because there are only two, and the total permutation parity has to be even), it would be 96.

I'm confused too

does anyone have any links to mods for ES 2x2, 4x4 and 5x5 and disassembly info.. Thanks,
Andy
