Oooooh, thanks!
I've got to try that! 0:

I use CRC on my speedcubes, jigaloo on the DS and big cubes.

I'll try it as well I think. The one time I did it I only did the easy to reach parts (non of the actual internals) if you know what I'm referring to. So like, the part you can see while the cube is misaligned, I did those surfaces, and it speed up a decent amount. Sadly there are some surfaces (inside the core) that also degrade, and you can't get to those as easily, and they really do account for a decent amount of friction believe it or not.

Edit: These posts really show why I don't believe in "breaking in" cubes. A cube is best first day.

I think I understand the internal part you're referring to.
I'm scraping my cube right now with a scalpel I stole from bio lab.
(They were throwing them away anyway)

I also agree, cubes do feel nicest when they're new~

Ugh, just started scraping, this is not a fun project. I think I may go with sanding (super fine).

Edit: One piece done, it feels really, really smooth now. I hope this is worth it.

Chris, are you going to sand down stuff like the core? The actual center pieces themselves even?

Update: It's faster, but it's still nothing like it was brand new. The cube I'm restoring here is a c4y diy, and if you've never tried one, they are fasssssttttt. This one is like 2 years old though. It's pretty good now, but not amazing.

Lol, obviously man!

Also, in reply to Josh, I scraped out the majority of my storebought, and it's much better now.
I didn't scrape the core or the centers, but all touching surfaces of the edges and corners.

Are your times better when you scream, shout, or yell? I was just wondering this, I would be really interested in seeing the results. If you wanted to, you could do 10 solves, make the odd numbered ones into an average of 5, make the even ones into an average of 5, and then compare them.

Did anyone try this? I would really love to know the results and may try this later tonight.
