what's the difference between an old style scramble and random state scramble on qqtimer?
Old style: 25 random moves
Random state: qqTimer generates a random state it wants to scramble to and then solves it near-optimally, and gives you the inverse of the solution (i.e. the scramble that gets you to that state)

Random state is better.

"Timer Abuse"

Most people who partake in the OH event know the term "table abuse".

I am wondering about the idea I am calling "timer abuse". This would be the action of a competitor using the timer as well as the table to help he/she turn (mainly for OH M slices).

Here is an example of an H-perm with "timer abuse":

The only possible issue with this is I see is that regulation A5b states, "While inspecting or solving the puzzle, the competitor must not receive assistance from anyone or any object other than the surface (also see Regulation 2i). Penalty: disqualification of the attempt (DNF)."

Mainly focusing on "any object other than the surface". The real question here would be, is the timer included in the surface? As the timer is a normal part of a solving station.

So, in one sentence, is "timer abuse" legal?

7f1d) Surface: The flat surface on which the Stackmat has been placed. The mat is considered a part of the surface. The timer is not considered a part of the surface.

Regarding "table abuse" being accepted, there's currently nothing in the regulations to specifically ban it.

Thank you, I didn't catch that in the regs.

Thanks, I'd forgotten about that. The one I'd seen before was a website, rather than something you downloaded... do you know what that website is? I'll still try ksolve, but I'd just like to know what the website was.

probably this?

How many 2GLLs are just combinations of sunes/anti sunes/back sunes/etc? I might learn some easy cases (like the U and T cases with the solved face)

all of them, doesnt necessarily mean that they are good algs though.

This doesn't work. I've tried it several times and end up with a J perm. Am I missing something?

Also, any other suggestions for algs would still be appreciated.

thanks

I'm pretty sure it's the G perm you requested, maybe ditch the U' at the beginning. Do it a few times and you'll come back to it. It has headlights on left and bar in front.

I feel like an idiot. I don't know why I kept missing a ' again and again. It works. thanks!

Also, I'm curious how you do your G(b) perms from the back. The wiki has this: (y') R' U L' U2 R U' L (y) R L U2 L' R' but that doesn't flow nicely for me.
G(b) from back.

When doing solves using NISS,
Let's say I have this skeleton:
A(B)C(D)E

Where the letters represent some sequence of moves and bracketed letters are done on the inverse.

To get my final solution, do I write down AB'CD'E? (Prime indicates inverse of the sequence)

What do most people use for M slices? Left hand or Right hand? I can use both, but I do double pushes for right hand first with ring and then middle. For left I do double flicks with ring finger. What is better? I am switching to Roux ASAP so that's why I asked. I want to get a white 3x3 now that I like white cubes more. Should I replace my Aolong with a white one or get a white Weilong? I'm looking for a faster cube. I like the bevelled pieces of the Aolong as they don't affect me.

I'd recommend using your left hand to do the M2 double trigger (ring then middle). When doing second block you use your right hand for most of the turning, so shifting the burden of M moves to the left hand would help.

Get whichever cube you want. They're all fast.

I'm not sure I get what you are asking
but I think your final solution should be ACEB'D'

Let's say
I do A
Then I switch to inverse, then B
Then I switch back to normal, C
Switch to inverse, D
Back to normal, E
How will my final solution look like?

hmm,
normal
stuffs: A

switch to inverse
premove: A'
more stuffs: B

back to normal
premove: B'
stuffs: A
some more stuffs: C

inverse again
premove: C' A'
more stuffs: B
even more stuffs: D

and normal again
premove: D' B'
stuffs: A
some more stuffs: C
the final stuffs: E

so final solution will be ACED'B'
I was wrong earlier since I didn't think through what I wrote :/
