Personally, I lube it and then play. I don't know if it breaks in faster without lube, but I know with lube, it's more fun to solve. If it's more fun to solve, you'll use it more, and it will break in. That's how I feel at least.
I'm not an expert with color neutrality, but if you are having trouble with recognition, then you should switch to opposite color neutral. If you issue is look ahead or creating F2L pairs, stick with full color neutral.
I would say if you think being 25 seconds after 2 months isn't fast enough improvement, then you should stop cubing, because it's only going to get more frustrating from here.
Patience is a virtue, and anything worth doing takes time.
My last layer seriously slows down my times. I often have a 6 second F2L but struggle to avg100 under 13 seconds. Are there any resources to help me improve my turning speed (recognition & alg retention isn't such a problem) because I think my turning style is a little old and slow!

if it really is just tps and not recognition then: find better algs for yourself, learn fluid fingertricks, don't lock up (if necessary switch cubes, lube etc.), practice, know full pll and oll, auf not cube rotate.
is it good to lube the springs and screws of a cube out of the box
or do like 100 solves then lube it
also what is a good lube for the pieces of the cube to speed a cube up
i use cubicle weight 4 for the internals
but i can't put too much on the pieces or my cube will slow dowm
Would a lower weight of lube suffice? like weight 3 or 2
what about the lubicle speedy?
maru lube? I've heard both good things and bad about it

I have a couple of question!
1) How to lube 3x3 with Traxxas 50K
2) How long does it stay on the cube
3) If you have Traxxas, how much cc/ml bottle do you have?
4) Is the effect of the lube instant, or I have to do and avg100?
5) I have a 50 cc/ml bottle. Can you predict how long it will last?
6) I have 30K and 50K. Should I lube pieces with 30K or 50K?
