There's a thread about patterns. Here's the link.

And my personal favorite is R2 U2 M2 D2 L2.

Megaminx Pattern

R U R' D- R U' R' D- R U R' D- R U' R' D- R U R' D- R U' R' U'
-flip the megaminx upside down-
R U R' D+ R U' R' D+ R U R' D+ R U' R' D+ R U R' D+ R U' R' U

I've tried this pattern a few times, Flipping it upside own gives you 5 different faces to start on.

This is where I learned the notation and I guessed that D+ was only a fifth turn. But am confused it uses D+/- and R/R'.

If the stickers don't tell you, how do I find out what brand super square 1 (4 layer version) I have?

Also, are there other brands that made that puzzle other than mf8 and QJ?

I got a stickerless Lubix Zhanchi from my girlfriend last week. It's really really good, but the center caps keep popping off. It didn't happen too occasionally at first, but now it pops a lot, which is annoying when I'm doing solves. Really nothing happens except that the center caps pop. I've looked online for solutions, but most sources say to stick paper or tape in the center caps, which I don't think I'm too keen on. Any solution to this?

You could put some lubix/differential oil under the cap. I heard it works.

Why don't you want to use paper? Just cut a piece of paper slightly larger than the inside of the cap, and wedge it between the cap and the center piece. It's simple and will keep the cap well in place. The Fangcun is notoriously bad when it comes to center caps popping off, but a little piece of paper eliminates it completely. I'd much prefer that over lube.

am I correct to assume I can just suck it into my empty lubix syringe? or do I need to get an applicator also.

Yes, as long as you have the syringe and the tip.
However it would be easier to pour it in the back end of the syringe after disassembling it, although I'm not quite sure on this one. If you're going to be sucking it in, make sure the tip's not on or it'll take forever.
