It is never too early (or too late) to learn. And the sooner you do it, the less time you waste.

Thanks for the input.
I know its never too late or early, but maybe it would be more beneficial to improve my F2L than starting working on something else that will provide less results.

Why almost all the fast cubers (with notable exceptions) stop the computer timer while the cube is still in their hands?
I see that in lots of videos, and I automatically thinks "meh, that's not a 9.xy, that's a DNF."

Because that saves some time between each solve, allowing for more solves per session, I guess

Cuz they don't feel like tossing their cube on their laptop hundreds of times a day. It's become so common that its just an accepted part of unofficial solving.

The center piece looks the same as the others. The entire side will barely turn because the screw head keeps rubbing against the plastic in the cylinder. All the other sides are really good.

have you tried loosening the screw so that it is over the lip of the cylinder?

You could try a washer on top, lube in the cyclinder, or turn the side for a while until the screw forms a path in the plastic, similar to piMod

You could also just shorten the cylinder where the screw goes until it's short enough, but it may be a hassle to do.
Don't think it would damage the puzzle since it doesn't change anything on the outside, and it shouldn't make it more fragile since you don't make anything thinner, just shorter.
Although I can't guarantee anything, it was just an idea I got, haven't done it myself.

That wouldn't work. Since the crew fits into the cylinder it would still not turn properly. It would probably unstabilize the cube.

Questions

To keep the permanent center piece on my 4x4 marked, I cut a corner of this sticker off. Is this allowed for tournaments, or would it be considered non visible information.

What makes a cube viable for an official event? Like gigaminx, kilominx, Square-2, 3x3xX, etc.

Why are the magic and master magic events no longer listed on the WCA website?

How much is cut off? If you didn't tell me, I would have thought you just used the stickers enough so they got chipped. Alternatively, if you're worried, why don't you just put a logo on that piece?
