How do i clean my lubixed guhong? Would i rinse the pieces(won't it damage the stickers? :o), and dry them with a paper towel? What about the hardware though?

What tensions do people use generally on a florian modded SS 5x5? Like how big the gap between the core and a pulled center piece should be? Currently mine is set very tight, I think there is way for improvement by tensioning. I havent lubed anything but the core yet so I dont know how much that will help too.

Inner layer turns are kinda stiff, but I'm afraid loosening tensions will make the outer pieces pop as they are fairly loose already. Does swapping the shengshou springs back instead of the dayans I have help with this problem?

As I already said, I found the 5x5 to be much looser after Florian modding. To the point that swapping for Dayan springs would probably be detrimental. If it's very loose, and it definitely looks too loose, try swapping them back.

The spring swap results in a looser cube at the same tensions. It's the only mod I've done to my 6x6 and the results are quite surprising. If the inner layers are too tight and the outer layers are too loose, then tensioning alone more than likely won't fix it.

Now I swapped back to shengshou springs and lubed it, at a little looser tensions than what I have now I got pops. I tighten it a bit and no pops but I dont know, feels kinda sluggish? Might be the lube taking time to break in but I don't know if I'm quite satisfied with this. My SS 4x4 got amazing after the mods, this just got a little bit better.

To be honest I dont know what to expect.

The lockups are the same btw. I hope I didnt overmod ,_,

I have been trying to fond a spacebar based stopwatch/lap timer to do relays on and still see individual times.

Does anyone know a site? the ones I have found you click on a button for laps

I also want it to time individual steps in big cubes

My 5x5 was drastically better after modding it. Much faster outer layers, large reduction in lockups. If it's feeling sluggish, that sounds like too much lube. I'd play with the tensions some. Does it still feel really loose?

Nope, it kinda feels slower than before modding somehow. I hadnt lubed it back then so it could be the lube but I doubt it. Even half a turn looser makes it pop, I've never had this on any other puzzle. Can the tensins really be about quarter turns?

Weird that half a turn looser and it starts to pop and half a turn tighter its worse than on stock tensions.

I sometimes tune my tensions with 1/8 of turns, quarter turns is a must to try
:P

I suppose the problem is that I'm expecting too much of an improvement. It is a 5x5 after all and combined with my crappy turning the result is not the best. I'd love to have a sub2min solver try this and see what they think. I'm uploading a video of a 3:23.19 solve (1min 40 secs faster than my last best solve :D [3 months ago]).

Also what is weird is that some screws feel really loose and other really tight even though the tensions are very close to perfectly even.

Yet another album of different pictures of the pieces: http://imgur.com/a/dZSU0#0

And here it is

What method does qqwref use to solve big cubes?

He says he uses an edges first centers second method but I can't really find this method, but what I care about is how to apply it.
