I know it technically doesn't have layers, but I usually think of it as having a bottom layer, lower middle layer, upper middle layer, and top layer.

Anyway I've looked for the answer to this, and i really couldn't find anything, and the WCA isn't really too clear about it, but sorry if im completely oblivious to something:

Are black tiles/stickers legal in competitions??? because my fav cube is white so i have one side black instead of having white on white.

i really didnt think that question needed a thread of its own so im glad that i stumbled upon this thread:)

It doesnt matter if your stickers are black just as long as you have stickers in general. So if u were thinking of taking them off, don't.

and i was wondering what the best style ( like less cube rotations) is to solve for the last layer. should i persue the EPLL/COLL or does anybody have a better experience with something else?

Which size mini zhanchi would be best for OH? The 50 or 55mm?

I would have to say 55mm. its not a big difference between them and youll have alittle bit more control with it. I have a 55 i use for OH and it works just fine for me.

And i was wondering what the best lubricant is (for my zhanchi) and how can u tell exactly if your cube is tensiioned perfecty because mine seems to be getting looser.

why are you responding to something posted 3 years ago?

you cant cut down rotations in LL because of awkward things like untrickable F L and B. if you dont want any cube rotations, use roux

I'm not sure if this is the right place to be asking this,
But what is the number of moves used in WCA scrambles for 2x2 and 3x3?

What does optimal mean? And why does the number of moves in scramble change? Wouldnt that make it easier for some with less moves in their scramble?

An optimal scramble uses the minimum possible number of moves to get to the scrambled state. So to work out a 2x2 (or pyraminx) scramble, the computer picks a random state, then works out the shortest possible way to get there.

The number of moves in a scramble doesn't make a difference to solving unless it's ridiculously low (like 6 or less), since no-one uses an optimal solution in speedsolving. And (as far as I know), the number of moves in a scramble is variable because it's easier for the program to find a scramble if it has a range rather than a specific number of moves to match. Computing optimal scrambles for 3x3 can take some time, so they make the scrambles sub-optimal since it makes no difference to the state anyway.

If I'm wrong on any of this, someone should point it out :)
