I've been working on f2l lookahead but while im tracking peices, my current pair and insert moves for f2l move the peices and i lose track of them. does anyone have some tips?

K any tips for getting faster at f2l except for doing examples or just keep doing that

Don't time yourself for awhile. Make your goal to solve as efficiently as possible... Look at each f2l case and try to find the best way to insert the corner/edge pair. You can also try to do the entire f2l with rotating the cube. This isn't always practical during a solve, but it can be a great practice tool.

Something that has improved my f2l tremendously as of late is learning how to tell which pieces are in the slots on the back of the cube without rotating. Use process of elimination based on which slots are solved and which pieces are visible to tell which pieces may be hidden. Although this comes very intuitively for some, it has taken a great deal of work for me, and I'm still not great at it.

Above all else, do a TON of solves. The only way to get better is to practice...

I want to do cross on top but IM affriad i wont get good times by cube rotation but i get better cross times when its on the top

Just start solving with the cross on bottom, I thought it would be very hard for me to switch but after a few days I got used to it and never solved the cross on top. And now I even forgot how to solve the cross on top..lol :)

For guimond method on 2x2x2, is it good to just use ortega orientation algs when I get a full face of opposite colors, or should I just force a 3/4 face and use a guimond alg?

Cubesmith textured tiles for competition

I have my first competition coming up (Dixon Open 2012) and I just wanted to make sure that Cubesmith's textured tiles are legal for competing, as both of the speedcubes I use have them. Thanks

Modded cubes allowed in competitions?

I just got a Dayan Guhong V2 and I would like to mod it and take it to some competitons.

so would the godly guhong mod be able to be used?

They are, as long as it doesn't change the functionality or basic concept of the cube (as it probably won't).

Yes, they are. they're within the thickness range and the textures are all the same, so they're legal in BLD as well.
