Is the Rubik's brand 4x4 any good? Why I am asking:

In school, I was in a study hall, and some people I knew were in a study hall a few rooms over; and that class is usually used as a math class, so the teacher had some cubes, that she was letting them use. Since the kids associated me with being good at math (I guess I am a sterotypcial cuber :p) , they wanted to see if I could solve it. So 2 kids I knew came to my study hall and gave me the cube, and when I solved it, they brought me back to their study hall. They had me solve a few more cubes that were terrible (I am guessing they were either Rubik's brand, or dollar store cubes). But then they gave me a 4x4 to solve; and it was surprisingly good. It felt like my SS V3, but with less corner cutting. It was wayyy better than my SS V1, so I was wondering if this was a Rubik brand, because I think it was. And if it was, I have never heard of a good Rubik 4x4.

So are Rubik brand 4x4s good, or was this just a fluke?

Can someone that is just sub 20, post an average of 12 doing cross, and tell me if they use 2/3/4look LL. Much appreciated.

I don't use CFOP as my main method, but I'm juuuust sub-20 with it (~19). I use EOLL -> COLL -> EPLL; whatever that's called. :P (3LLL, I guess) Also, I'm only opposite colour neutral.

Cross ao12: 3.04 (σ = 0.69)

2.41, 1.07, 1.92, 3.07, 3.22, 4.45, 2.03, 4.13, 3.55, 3.69, 3.52, 2.90

I got an email about the "New Improved 12 color Megaminx For Speed-cubing" last week and am surprised I haven't found anything about it on the forum. The email says that Pochmann helped make more improvements to his previous mold. Does anybody know anything about the new cube?

I hope they make a version of the megaminx with rounded corners some day.

I am bordering on sub 20... I use a 3 look last layer (but my plls are all averaging something like 4seconds each :fp ) my cross averages 2.67s and my f2l averages 10 to 12s. Really need to start drilling my plls

Okay thank you much appreciated.

Wait were you talking about a video, or just a list of times?

If you mean a list of times:
Average of 12: 2.41
1. 2.12
2. 3.23
3. 2.19
4. 2.33
5. 2.79
6. 3.09
7. 2.14
8. 2.17
9. 2.52
10. 2.61
11. 0.93 (LOL scramble; 3 move cross)
12. 2.10

Had a few easy scrambles, so I probably actually average around 2.6.

What needs the most work in my times? i use 2look oll and pll

Cross:
Avg. 5: 00:05.99

F2L:
Avg. 5: 00:13.94

Last Layer:
00:10.12

you cross and LL with 2lpll and 2loll you should be able to sub 8 you LL

as for cros practice it blindfolded and spend time looking for an 8 move cross as 99% of cross case can be solved in 8 or less moves

100% of cross cases can be solved in 8 or less
Like 98% of cases can be done in 7 or less
Probably 3/5 to 4/5 can be done in 6 or less

Ok perfect, after all of that I should start working on my f2l?

well really you practice your f2l by just solving and learning to look ahead but yeah you should also for any difficult f2l cases you should look up an alg and see how it works(not learn it unless you feel a burning need to) but yeah you'll find most of them have a similar and easy intuitive solution

I m very confused what to do
i just got a 2x2 yesterday (lubix wittwo), with a PB avg5 of 7.23 . You can see my best times in my signature for 3x3
for 2x2, i use LBL corners, and then OLL PLL(Y and T)
for 3x3, i use CFOP with 2 look OLL

So my question is what should i possibly work on, I will participate in 2-3 competitions in january and february, and i want to get at least one NR ( 3x3 being 13.54 and 2x2 being 5.50) in them, What do you people think would be a better and safer bet to give my hardwork on ? should i learn full OLL or should i get into CLL for 2x2?
