faz uses yau. a lot of the fast solvers use yau. it is 31323 or 3162 or 312222. . etc. . . . 2 pairing all 12 is so slow because of lookahead and transition to 3x3. i dont know any fast solvers that use a beginner method for edge pairing.
edit: i use yau as well. i used to use syuhei edges, but lookahead is more annoying and bad cases come up frequently. for some reason yau is really consistant and presents itself with many lucky cases.
i seem to be bringing up mini yau tutorials all over the place now a days, so i'll do another one quickly lol.
1) solve 2 opposite centers (one being your cross color)
2) place cross color center on left or right.
3) pair 2 cross edges and place them on the cross color center in correct relation to eachother (like you're building a cross)
4) pair 1 more cross edge and place it in the cross in the WRONG relation to the cross (this is intentional)
5) use a L turn to adjust your cross so that the U face can move freely on the empty cross slot.
6) solve remaining 4 centers using r R and U
7) pair last cross edge. replace the WRONG cross edge group, move empty cross slot over with L move, then place last cross piece.
8) restore centers. place cross on bottom.
now, you have a cross done and 4 edges solved. the remaining 8 edges can be solved many ways. . 2222, slice 3pair then 2 pair the rest, 6 pair then edgeflip. . then you just transition right into f2l. this is the nicest thing about yau. with practice you can lookahead while you're doing a edgeflip on the last 2 edges or if you catch a 2 pair. . no need to search for cross pieces and do the cross in a really inefficient manner. its already done for you.
