Hey all,
I think my question is the "most asked" already. but i aint finding a specific answer.
Q: which is a best cube for speed cubing?
im planning to buy one. if there is any thread already (obviously) can i have the link pls. i cant find it.

You can use whichever method or technique you want as long as you come up with a valid solution that you can explain if requested.

Yes you would. You can always write down the first solution you find and then use its reverse as the scramble.
 
hey jiggy and others help me out . I seem to have problem with f2l thats causing me much time though i achieved my goal for the month of october i.e sub 45sec . Now i want to get under sub 35 end of this month if possible . I need to improve just my f2l . How to practice for it? go slow and look ahead? I am thinking to just practice f2l for a week

search youtube for advanced F2L. there are a lot of videos there.
watch as much as you can and write down those you think you need. after a week, watch them again. you'll see you need even more.
 
Hi ahmedkl. You're getting to the stage where it's harder for me to offer meaningful advice. Your list of things to learn is getting shorter and now it's more just time to buckle down and practice. "Go slow and look ahead" is certainly a great (and sometimes difficult) mantra to live your cubing life by. You can also look up a few optimal algs for some of your worst F2L cases (you could try here or here, or do a bit of google). Don't be afraid to just toy with F2L, too. F2L is a very versatile and varied method, there are many ways to handle each case.

Importantly, try to cut down on cube rotations: EVERY SINGLE F2L you will ever meet can be potentially solved using <R, U, L> with a maximum of ONE cube rotation. In speedsolving, this isn't always practical. However, if you're doing more than two or three then you can cut down.

Additionally, try to be familiar with inserting F2L pairs into the back pockets or with your off hand. What I mean by this is recognise cases from different angles and be able to insert a pair into back-left as easily as you would front-right.

i agree with jiggy. the best thing i did to increase my speed on any cube was to slow down and cut back delays to as little as possible.

and sometimes its easier to do an [r] rotation and treat a normal F U insertion like a U R, especially if there are two pairs already made F U is good to keep the second pair from being destroyed.

also why you are already slowing down to practice, try learning advanced F2L
there are a few good tutorials on youtube erik's was my biggest help

with a great F2L yuo can sub-20 even if you are still on 2 look OLL and PLL
id recommend getting F2L down solid, before learning full OLL
 
Hi Ahmed, I am glad to see you are doing so well! I still remember you very first posts (and I am quite sure Jiggy does too...)
Just stick with the advice above and try not to focus too much on your times.
Perhaps even stop timing yourself for a week or two and work on the looking ahead thingy.

Now for something completely different (not to make you faster as such but you will still benefit from it):
Why not take a look at the other methods / cubing disciplines out there like Petrus, Roux, ZZ, BLD, FMC, MTS
You may find some stuff you like and increase you overall knowledge of the cube.

I completely agree with this! For me, the most rewarding thing in cubing isn't a new personal best (although I love those!) it's learning a new method, or realising that I've just understood something new about the cube. Why not take some time off from speedsolving and read up on a bit of cube theory, or learn a new method? Petrus is a pretty easy method to pick up. I also love Human Thistlethwaite Algorithm, although that takes a little bit (but not too much) more commitment to learn.

This is a hobby, after all! Have some fun with it! =)
 
thanks a lot for all the replies you people really are helpful :) . As you said to make an F U , U R i think i do a cube rotation . I really need to cut cube rotation i think that is causing me time . Sometimes when it gets good i got a time of 27.24 and that is good enough but getting an average of that will be even better and yes i am going to read cube theories and stuff later
 
Are there finger tricks for the skewb?
Is there an H-perm like thing that changes 4 centers across from each other on skewb?
Do you like skewb?
I like skewb.
 
How many cases would there be to combine last slot of F2L with OLL?
(By the way, I just mean the 2 basic cases used in intuitive F2L)
