Hello one answer question thread, I hope you can help.
See, I just got my square-1, and I want to solve it myself. My goal is to not look at any help other than what I've seen previously (i.e. solving videos). I was wondering if I'm going in the right direction.
The way I see it, is to get the square-1 back into a cube, then solve it kinda LBL style. I don't think making the bottom layer will be too difficult, but I'm not that far yet. My other thought was to do the corners first, then the edges.
So I guess what I'm asking, is if this is the general approach. Also, is there parity that I might come across where I most likely couldn't figure out myself? I mean I'm not the best puzzle solver, I just want to have some sense of accomplishment. So far I'm having trouble getting it to cubeshape, I've been playing with it about an hour with little progress.
Square-1 is an interesting and challenging puzzle, I never managed to solve it without any help so I don't really know much about intuitive approaches but you seem to be on the right track. Here's a little hint if you want them.
Oh and yes there is parity, but Stefan Pochmann found a way to solve it intuitively, try to search up the post, it's very interesting.
Solve orientation first, then permutation, and you can do corner then edges.
Ok, so I tried searching a bit for solving the parity intuitively and couldn't find anything. I'm very close to solving it now, I just have 2 edges swapped and then the crazy middle bar is flipped the wrong way (I assume parity has to do with an odd number of these?).
Do you remember the general steps involved in this, or should I just try to rescramble it and hope for no parity next time?
