I know that the color neutrality thing comes up a lot, and for CFOP I find the difference to be negligible, but I'd like to know how useful it is for blocks on Roux.
I generally start with White bottom, and make a red block first. Red sticks out most for me, and I generally get my block done 3-6 seconds. I can also solve it equally fast using orange, but generally don't unless the block is staring me in the face. Is it a big deal to learn my other blocks? Should I stick with white top/yellow bottom for recognition purposes, but learn to do blue and green blocks also?

I apologize for my abuse of this thread, but I find the responses infinitely useful and am just looking to step up my Roux :P

Haha, if anyone abuses this thread it's me. I use fixed colours, maybe you could try doing a red or orange block, with white on bottom.

Thanks :D
Where can you learn to solve a 2x2 blindfolded?
Maybe in PDF but Lancetheblueknight's tuorial doesn't help me much
Thanks

You can basically apply 3x3x3 blindfolded methods to the 2x2 cube. That's what I do anyway.

Here's where I learned to do it first. I don't really recommend this method anymore, I kinda wish I started with 3x3, but this is easy to understand and gets the job done.

Cyrus, here is the diagram. I know there will be people who think I did it wrong, but the main point was to show him the 2 main types of trees, and to show him where I am, and other people.

ok Ill check it out. what 3x3 bld method do you recommend?

two questions about counting times.
i've been recording my averages for about a little over a year now. other timers i used went strictly by 'do 5 solves, record time, hit reset' but since i started using qqtimer, i've just been doing tons of solves and recording what i get every five. right now my best average of 5 is 21.14. however, the best avg5 on qqtimer right now is 20.01 (it used the last two solves of one average and the first three of the next) should i count this as my new personal best average of 5?

also, yesterday i was riding in the car playing with my cube. hand scrambles and all that. i randomly got a scramble with an easy two move cross and i could see the next f2l pair easily too so i told my friend to time it (she has a stopwatch on her ipod) and i got 15.2, full step. my normal pb nonlucky is 16.85. it was a hand scramble and i didn't start or stop the timer, i just told her when to start and stop, but it is so much better than my old pb. should this count as a new pb?

to answer your second question: no. hand scrambles are frankly: not reliable. You will find your self not doing the back face and down face, and doing things like R U R' because it's in your muscle memory. and humans aren't very random like a scramble from a computer.

to aceofspades:

try Old Pochmann. but i heard there are some who use speed BLD and apply it to 2x2. sorry i can't seem to quote.

Probably Old Pochmann. I personally use 3OP because I find it easier to memorize that way, but I believe the general consensus is that Old Pochmann is faster. I'm not really big into BLD though, so I don't know much about it beyond solving it reallly slowly.

Alg Help? :O

I'm having a hard time fingering this algorithm (finger tricking? Performing? You get the point).
U RU'L'UR'U2B'UBL
I'm rather slow with this, and The B moves are pretty awkward to me. The way I do this is by doing Y before the B', and then performing it kinda like R'URB and then Y' after. The cube rotation unsettles me a little.

I got this from Kirjavas CMLL algs. E2. Maybe a different alg is in order? This one was really easy memo, and everything flows nicely up until the B's, so I didn't really want to find another :<

I changed it to U R U’ r’ F R’ F2 U’ F U R.

I like that very much. Thanks! Unfortunately, I can't view the doc. I don't have MSWord, and I can't download and substitutes because of a corrupted file in my system, nothing can install. :[

what is THORSDAY???

an actual real question (though i would leik to know what thorsday is):

does anybody else have a cubetech 2x2 cube that has been modified in any way, and could you go on about explaining it?

i was thinking of putting springs so its a screw-spring, unless it already is.

Ok, it's not completely done anyway.

what is THORSDAY???

Inside joke, he is a custom character from a video game, not to be confused with Thomas (THE QUACKER), and his specialty is CHEAP COMBO and THE ARROW.
