Is it utterly abnormal or somehow against the rules to make a facebook event for a comp?

The people that own the venue I'm looking at suggested I do that so that they could promote it through twitter, google+, facebook, etc.

I'd assume it's just fine, but I've never seen it done before. I think it'd be a good way to get an idea of attendance, make announcements, etc.

No. Here in Belgium, almost every competition also has a facebook event. You should always mail important announcements to all competitors though, since not everyone uses facebook :)

Does anyone have a good V perm? Mine is really slow, and I heard u can use like a T perm with thick Rs(r).
It wouldn't be a T perm: a T perm swaps two adjacent corners, and a V perm swaps two diagonal corners. No amount of Rw moves can change that because slice moves don't affect the corners :P
I use the F/B mirror of the alg suggested by TDM - R U' R U R' D R D' R [U' D] R2 U R2 D' R2

Probably. Just swap a big piece with a small piece.

Also is it possible to assemble the squae 1 into a state where slice moves cannot be made?
It was still solveable.
No, because the top would need to have only corners (since they take up so much space) which block each other. For them to block each other, there needs to be an edge piece up there. There's also got to be an even number of edge pieces. One of the edge pieces will be opposite the other edge piece, in which case it can be solved, or a corner piece. If it's opposite a corner piece, it can be turned anyway, since only one side of the edge piece will be blocked.

Is it impossible to put a square-1 together in a state where it can't be solved? If so, that's really cool.
I think there is no impossible state...

Probably. Just swap a big piece with a small piece.

If you swap a corner and an edge, i think it will still be possible (Mine often poped and I didn't remember having an impossible state)

If what you call "big piece" is an half-slice (of the middle layer), this is an impossible state, but you can't technically do that...

I have recently switched to CFOP and average around 18-19. My F2L takes 8-11 seconds and I have a terrible last layer (4LLL).

1. How should I go about learning OLL and PLL?

2. How much should I improve once I have learned both?

1. Learn the PLLs first and then its your wish whether to learn the full OLL
2. Cross F2L transition -> F2L -> Cross

1) PLL probably, OLL once you average around 15
2) Well, at 18-19 you have a considerably fast 4LLL, so if you have high tps during last layer you would probably improve by 1-1.5 seconds during LL. If you have a fast F2L and slow LL then you might improve by 2 or more seconds(That is, if you can Sub 2 every PLL). Then it's just practice, self potential and stuff like Cross to F2L transition, or you could learn alg sets like COLL,ZBLL,VLS, and probably a bunch of PLL skip cases.
