Are you guys ever like, Oh imma do 3x3 OH and imma do 2x2 aswelll, oh and ill 4x4 and 5x5 and why not try 3x3 BLD, wait imma practice 3x3 while im at it.
And in the end, you dont do anything and dont progress in anything?

Yeah thats what im going through. i wanna get good at sooo manny things, but i cant seem to stick with 1 event and practice that. What should i do?

Yup... :( That's why I've decided to do only 3bld, 3x3, 4x4, pyra, and mega for the most part, but still do the rest for the weekly comp so I don't get totally lame at them.

This is me for my entire cubing life. I'd recommend you try not to do this unless you're happy with taking forever to improve at anything :fp

I would say that you should only find something and stick with it if you're willing to make that kind of sacrifice. I like a lot of events, but BLD is so much more important and interesting to me that I am content to only improve at BLD. If I didn't have such a clear favorite though, I don't see myself specializing.

This is what I did for most of the time I was cubing... Last one and half months, I was practising 3BLD only and I´m happpy to be finally good at something (ok, not THAT good, but much better than in anything else).

I think the best thing to do (if you want to get decent at more than 1 event) is to spend time on each puzzle individualy. I spent like 2 months learning CLL and only solving 2x2, and when I went back to doing only 3x3, my 3x3 times were like half a second faster than before (mid 17 to sub 17) because of the break. And even though I almost never practice 2x2 now, I can still pull off sub 3 averages of 12 when I feel like doing big sessions :)

What's the best 4x4?

Some I found:
Dayan-MF8
Shengshou v3
maru
qj
Lanlan
Ghost hand
Xcube

The opinion is split between Dayan+Mf8 and SSV3, although most people seem to prefer the SS. I prefer the dayan, but I use K4, and the slice moves on the dayan are much nicer than on the SS, although the shengshou has better outer layers. Preference really.

shengshou v3/v4/dayan if you have big hands.
maru sucks, qj sucks, lanlan sucks apparently, ghost hand sucks apparently, xcube is too expensive and pops.

Thanks! Similar with other higher order cubes, I assume? (Except for dayan, lanlan, and xcube, because they don't exist.)
