No. That's only if you get an "OLL skip" you would need to assume bow tie. If you do an alg for OLL you're allowed to twist it.

isn't this meaning at the end of a solve (PLL)?

if you put off a corner twist until the end of the solve, you cannot repair the corner that is out of place, as that would violate 5b2, so you would be forced back to OLL (method dependent, of course)

I have seen many of crazybadcuber's videos mainly because he's extremely informative when it comes to cubes. I've noticed his 3x3 shades that he uses, but can't put a finger on what they are. Are they simply cubicle custom stickers? cubicle full normal set? I only know what they're not, ie. cubicle fullbrights or cubesmith halfbrights because i have both. I like the shades he uses but when he refers to them he usually only says "I'll be putting my favorite set of stickers on anyway" or something like that. What does he use? D:

I have 2 Zhanchis, one regular black one, and a white 55mm one.

The 55mm one is amazing and it's my main.

The regular size one though, it's 2 years old and it just doesn't feel the same as the 55mm one.
The 55mm cube feels... Zhanchi like?
The 57mm cube, even at the same tension and being lubed, it can barely cut 1/2 a cubie, and locks up really often.

Is this normal? Or is 'old age' finally getting to my cube?

How much did you break your 57mm in ? But I have the same feeling with my two zhanchis ( one 55, the other 57 ). The 55 is much smoother than the 57 which locks up way more. The problem is, the 55 feels a little too small in my opinion, and I have reasonably sized hands. I remember reading here that it might be due to the ratio air/plastic for the cubies. There must be way less air for the same quantity of plastic in the 55mm since the cubies are smaller, if you assume the section of surfaces being the same thickness.

Hey, that is actually useful! How come that I didn't see this so far?
The site's been down for a while, and up until recently I was using google's cache to view it. Unfortunately, when tried PCMS because I was bored, I tried to use that page and found I couldn't. That image, not on any cubing website, is all that's left of EP5.

What method should i start with?

Sorry if this is the wrong section

Hey, i started cubing a few months ago and then stopped. I decided to pick up the cube again today and do some solves. I still use beginners method and am very slow. My best time when i first started was 56 seconds, now its like 1:20. I decided to learn a new method to see if it helps, i was set on CFOP but i would like to explore more methods to see which is best for me.

I just put 2 solves up on youtube to see if that can help evaluate how i handle the cube, any tips you can give me and what method is best for me.

Just thought i would ask for some advice here real quick.

I started cubing around 3 weeks ago, and i am currently at around 1:30 avg, using beginners method.

I have noticed that cross takes me a long time to form (i do it on top) and i have alot of downtime beetwen moves generally. I also lack fingertricks/move speed.

Just wondering if i should push the beginners method further, and try to redecue downtime, increase movement speed, and learn fingertricks etc,
or already try switching to a more efficient method (thought of Fridrich),
like start forming cross on the bottom, then learn some f2l , and just let my downtime/movement speed/fingertricks improve while i practice Frdrich?
ALso if i do switch to Fridrich, which part of it will help me reduce my times the most? f2l, pll, oll?
Like if i for example just implement F2L into my beginners method, would that reduce my solves to sub minute?

I would recommend just switching to Fridrich with 2-Look OLL + PLL. I remember that when I used beginner method when i was just getting into cubing, I couldn't really get past a minute or so, just because my fingers weren't really fast enough. I feel like you can't really get pretty fast with your fingers by just using the beginner's method unless you drill a LOT.

Learning F2L will make your solves slower, when you first learn it. Yes, you heard me. I think all of my solves took up to 45 seconds longer with F2L. It's very difficult to use, so just practice a LOT of F2L to get past your normal solve times. Going to Fridrich will definitely make your last layer faster, but it will also make the F2L slower, so your solves will probably stay at about the same times. Practice, though, and you will get good! Good luck.

Is there a bump protocol here? How long after the last post in a thread can you bump it? 12 hours? 24 hours? 48? Are bumps allowed at all?

On the Lanlan 2x2, one corner, 3 centers and 3 edges are fused together, and there are only 3 screws on the cube.
But for the Wittwo/Dayan 2x2, 3 edges are stuck to the corners, but the screws are still there.

What's the difference?

F2L + beginner LL would probably lead you to sub30 if you have a good F2L, but it would also mean you could probably sub25 or sub20 with CFOP LL. That being said, if I were you, I would try to learn the 10 or so algs you need for 4LLL, so that you start to manipulate these as early as possible, algs are really the background work on the long run. You don't master an alg from one day to another, you need to try your own finger tricks, eventually another alg that does the same operation on the cube but has moves better suited for finger tricks and so on. F2L on the other side, is something that will always be your bottleneck ( and never underestimate the cross ). So I'd learn the algs slowly, while working on F2L. What I did was completely forgetting about beginner when I switched, I would learn 2 algs a day, and slow solve my F2L, then solve the LL slowly taking time to recog the cases and if I didn't know the alg I would just read it and perform it. Scramble, solve again. By the end of the week I knew my 4LLL algs, and had understood F2L pairing, which led me to come back to my previous times. And then it started to drastically go down in the following weeks until ~35-40sec. Transitions are always a bugger, but the F2L one is probably the hardest of all.

Are there (good) Timers for iPhone except the iitimer, which Show averages of 100?
It would be also nice, if ich can have more than One Session once with it.

WeiSu missing a washer

Hi I just got my MoYu WeiSu in the mail today and I've taken it apart to lube it but I missing a washer!
I might be able to get a replacement sent to me but until then what do I do? I have spare DaYan hardware, maybe I can put the DaYan washers with the MoYu screws and springs? Or just assemble it with one washer short.
I don't want to ruin the speed and cutting of the cube so if someone could tell me if they've tried that and what the results were that would be great.
