when solving the 5x5x5 using free slice im not sure which method is the best when coming across a wrong orientation of a edge.
if I have a case where both the FR and FL edges have a center part of a tredge and a edge part of the tredge but it cant be solved with a u (or d depending on what part of the tredge).
i have 3 ways to solve this...
1. rotate edge, R U R' F R' F R - Slice.
2. Move out edge, do a wide slice, insert edge on the other side. R U R' U 3U' L' U L - Slice.
3. Move out edge, place edge in B face instead. R U R2 U' R - Slice.
there benefits of 1:
no other edge gets compromised.
negatives of 1:
i find it hard to execute on a 5x5, the layers slip around and cause lock ups and it requires regripping after.
Benefits of 2:
only uses R's U's and L's, no regripping.
can increase look ahead as you are moving the puzzle with the 3U
Negatives of 2:
not very efficient, Puts the BU edge into middle layer
Benefits of 3:
fast execution, No regrip
Negatives
Puts BU into middle layer
so are these the only 3 methods that can be used? which one should I stick to? or should i use them all?
