I'm sub-14 on 3x3 and I average 1:07 on 4x4 :(

It just depends how much you practice each event and stuff like that. But just on 3x3 and 4x4... I average 15-16 on 3x3 and I'm barely sub-2 on 4x4 so that's even worse. For 5x5 or above I would probably DNF lol. I just don't do big cubes right now and not planning to in the near future and possibly never. 4x4 I think I would get into eventually though and when I do get into it, I plan to get sub-1 on it.

My splits on 3x3 are

F2L
Sub 12 seconds = great
13 = average
+13.5 = bad

OLL+PLL
Sub 6.5 = Great
7.3 = Average
+8 = Bad

Which one should I improve first if my goal is efficiency? I know full PLL and maybe around 20 OLL algorithms. OLL+PLL is almost always 5.5-6.5 seconds if I knew the OLL case.

I'd say improve F2L. Ideal proportions for a solve is F2L(sin cross)=62% and LL=38%. 5.5-6.5 seconds is pretty good for those proportions, I think, so improving F2L first would be good. Then you could probably learn the rest of the OLL cases and go from there.

Then again, I'm not exactly an expert, so I'd be interested to see what others would say.

EDIT: Crunching the numbers ( proportions: (6/x)=(38/100), (600)=(38x), x=(600/38)=(about 15.5)) tells me that if your LL is 6 seconds and everything else is ideal time, your time should be about 15.5 seconds, 18 seconds if your LL is 7 seconds. Considering that your PB Ao100 is 20.51, you should definitely (IMO) focus on reducing F2L time.

What's the general consensus on the sub-20 equivalent for 5x5? I'm at 4 min now and I've been doing 5x5 for about 3 weeks.

Hard to say but maybe 3 mins.
However if anybody spent as much time solving 5x5s as they did 3x3s to get sub 20 it's is likely that they would be much faster, possibly sub 2.

Just as 2 examples,
Mike Hughey pb 3x3 avg in comp - 20.30
pb 5x5 avg in comp - 2.11:61
Alex Lau pb 3x3 avg in comp - 7.68
pb 5x5 avg in comp - 2.06:62

Anyone else still having trouble to contact izo (aka puzzleaddictions.com)? God damnit I sent my fifth email about the same problem and still nothing as an answer. I dont even know if he is receiving the emails. I am sending all the messages either through his contact form or directly via email. I'm starting to lose my hope with this one, I might even swap to thecubicle since the price difference isnt that big.

Yeah, I'm going through a similar experience over the last 6 weeks... its certainly not very encouraging...

EDIT: Have you managed to make contact with him since?

I just can't find a cubing webpage (It seems that I didn't save it as a bookmark...)
It is a very simple, pure page, You can compete online with other cubers (it has scrambler / timer, and after the solve, shows the result to the others), can chat, set up chat/compete rooms for sub-x solves, etc. I tried to search for it, can't find it.

EDIT: Never mind, I found it; it was http://www.twisttheweb.com/

Nothing. Quite frankly I've had enough of this bull**** and I'm switching to thecubicle.us when I want stickers. His quality is excellent, there are just as many shades nowadays and it is only a fraction more expensive. I also feel like thecubicle stickers are bigger meaning that less of the cube can be seen on the background.

EDIT: My missing order was a sticker order

Has anyone ever experienced lube suddenly drying in a cube? Suddenly as in between solves. I lubed about 2 days ago. It has been fast until today when just as I picked it up to rescramble, it had that unlubed Dayan feel (zhanchi btw). Does anyone know if this has to do with the amount of lube or my method (take out opposite edges)?

Note:I has washed out plastic dust and lubed it after months of no care and now it's worse than it was.

What lube are you using? If it's Maru lube or Silicone spray that is not completely unusual.

Clean it out completely use a tissue first and then lube it again. If it's maru then that's to be expected but somehow I think it's not.

If it's a Zhanchi (the only one I've tested this on) you can clean it with a cotton swab and rubbing alcohol as well if it still has residual lube on it.

I got my 50mm Zhanchi from them with no problems. I can't figure out how to edit posts on mobile website, so double post.

Oh I thought I mentioned, yes it is CRC heavy duty silicon. I've used it to lube all my cubes including this zhanchi before. Is it possible for the lube to "expire"? It's probably a few years old. I will try your advice though, thank you!

CRC does that a lot. "If at first you don't go fast, lube, lube again.
