Ya xcrosses are something I want to work on in a bit, gunna spend about a week on look ahead first though. I have like no experience with block building though so I may have to practice it for some time...

Also another question. I mentioned I am learning look ahead but I know I am still using many sub-optimal F2L cases (for example I ALWAYS solve cases with my cross colour facing up the same way (split up pair so cross colour stays up and pair using one of the 3 basic cases). I do this because it is easy to recognize and requires little thought, but often requires 1 or more cube rotations and is generally not very "finger-tricky"). So I was wondering should I stop learning look ahead and figure out better ways of solving f2l cases first? does it matter? would trying to learn both at once be too much?

Find more optimal solutions. Practice on making your solves efficient, then look into some algs, and once you got all that down, work on look ahead.
Look ahead wont help you at all if your move count is at 80.

Oh yeah?

Also, retep: Learning more than one thing at a time is fine, it just depends on what you're capable of. If you find that you're not making progress or confusing things becuase you're learning too much at once then you should slow down, and vice versa. You should post examples of the cases you're struggling with and we can give you alternative solutions, perhaps with no cube rotations or more "finger-tricky."

Why is it that a turn of two layers is named "w" on 4*4*4 and 5*5*5, but is noted by a small 2 on 6*6*6 or larger?

e.g. turning two top layers on 5*5*5 is Uw and the same on 6*6*6 is U followed by a small 2.

ed: hooray for square-numbered post. (24025 = 155*155)

Because how would you notate a 3layer turn on a 6x6x6? Its different because there is an extra number of layers on each face

I'm wondering what to do next to get faster at the 4x4, I'm averaging 2 minutes now, and have done about 100-150 solves with my new shengshou that i got last week. It seems to me that I am stuck at the 2 minute mark and have not seen any improvement after about 50 solves today and yesterday. I am using 3-2-2-2-3 edge pairing method and am looking for some advice on how to get faster.

List your Wiki F2L algs.

Guys, for those that use the F2L algs on SS Wiki, list the ones that you use. You don't have to write the whole thing out, just the case number and if it's the third one just '3'
eg: Cases.
1)1.
2)3.
4)2.
Etc.
I know most use intuitive F2L but would like to know what algs those that don't and if you have a good substitute for a Wiki F2L alg list that.

What might be the keyboard controls for qcube?

I=R
K=R'
E=L'
D=L
J=U
F=U'
H=F
F=F'
S=D
L=D'
W=B
O=B'
U=r
M=r'
R=l'
C=l
;=y
A=y'
Y=x
N='
P=z
Q=z'
7/8=Increase/decrease wide r turns on big cubes
4/3=Increase/decrease wide l turns on big cubes

That's that you need. Experiment with "Shift"+3, 4, 7, or 8. I dont know how to explain that in words.
