I'm debating on whether or not I should buy a regular guhong from cubedepot/speedcube shop or buying an Ultimate guhong from lubix. To cubers who own one, what are some of the differences you found in an ultimate vs. a regular lubed guhong? And is it worth the 20 or so dollars vs. the 13 or so dollars for a regular guhong.

And before someone posts it, I have already watched Camcuber's video. I'm just looking for more opinions.

No, you should not spend 7 extra bucks on a mod that takes 30 minutes tops.

Also dont use lubix, use shock oil or the lubix alternative. Would you rather spend $10 on lube that lubes 8 cubes or would you rather spend $3 on lube that lubes 50 cubes?

Should I learn to do M slice turns with my left hand? I do LL with CLL-ELL so I use a lot of M turns. When the alg contains a lot of U' turns I can do them quickly because I don't have to move my right hand between the M and U layers. When doing the mirrors of those algs I'm slower. It currently feels awkward with my left hand. Does anyone else use either hand for M turns?

I am currently using a "hybrid" of my left hand and right hand for the various M moves (left for M', right for M, both for M2), but I am trying to switch to moving only my left hand. This way I can do M moves with my left hand and U moves with my right hand (I use very few U's during L6E, usually only Us and U2s).

You could always just choose different algs that use fewer U moves for ELL though.

Well, I use my left hand for OH (I'm a righty), so I've learned a ton of U layer fingertricks with my left hand. So, I do all the M triggers with my right hand, and U layer turns with my left hand.

It's best if you can do M with both hands since certain algs can be awkward if you don't.

I try not to use any algs that require me do M with right hand (I'm a lefty, both IRL and with OH). But if you need to use those algs, then yes learn to use M both hands.

I use the shock oil on mine, you can find it at any RC Car Hobby Shop. I use 20wt, not sure if the weight means that much though, I hear some people use 20wt and some people use 30wt.

That's really watery shock oil. More similar to Maru lube than Lubix. I've heard alternative is 50k differential shock oil. There's a whole thread on it just search it. I recommend you just get the Lubix. Support a member of the community.

Edit: God damnit what a waste of a thousandth post

the v5 is not adjustable unless you mod it. after it dies, which takes a really long time, the mmap adjustable vcube 5 core mod is really good. who wants to break in a new v5 when all you have to do is cut the sucker up and replace the core? or, if you want to spend like 75 bux, you can buy one from smaz cube store.

to get a piece out, spread the outer layer as much as you can until you can get your thumb in between the UF center and UF right edge. push the UF right edge toward the corner really hard and then the piece will pull outward. rur'u' works too. if you force the corner to cut, it gets all locked up crazy and the UB right edge pops out easy

the corner mod is definately worth it. i sanded down the bumps first, noticed a big change, but heard of sanding the corner stalk. imho, corner stalk is pointless. getting the lube out that comes with it (the crap that gets gummy almost immediately and gets all over the outside) and relubing with d39, if you havent cleaned it out already.

CRC is fine too. i only lubed my vcube with crc so far, even with all the other lube available, only because the propellant has a marginal effect on the imperfections of the molding process. seems to work good for me. just be careful not to brick of course, just go slow and get it everywhere as evenly as possible. do all the sides. much like the xcube, it takes about 100+ solves for it to start feeling amazing. after like 500+ it starts becoming looser. once its loose, you can rock it!
