At what time should i start to learn full pll and oll? (sub-40 avg?)

learn full pll now.

Learn full OLL when you finish PLL. You don't even have to then. Full OLL isn't necessary for you right now.

i only avg sub 50? btw

Thats fine. Learn 1 look PLL and practice F2L for right now.

Why?

I'm just about sub20 and I only know 10 PLLs and 9OLLs. Just worry about you F2L for now.

With M2, I notice how shooting to UF and FU for instance can both be done with U2 M' U2 M'. When this is targeted at the sticker FU the peices become flipped. So is the best way just to flip the pieces at the end or do some people use different algs to solve the orientation as well. The same thing goes for DB and BD.

Thanks.

The algs Vcuber gave you are good, but with a little more effort, you can reduce cases that include targets in the M slice to much nicer "algs" by taking into account the target directly before or after it. Since it is a good idea to memorize targets in pairs for M2 to keep track of the M slice, this is easily accomplished.

Let s be any sticker not in the M slice. (s) denotes the regular setup move:

FU -> s: M2 (s) M (s)' M
s -> FU: M' (s) M' (s)' M2

BD -> s: M2 (s) M' (s)' M'
s -> BD: M (s) M (s)' M2

For the following two, the setup moves for the UL and UR pieces are switched:
BU -> s: U2 M2 (s) M (s)’ M U2
s -> BU: U2 M’ (s) M’ (s)’ M2 U2

So for example, lets say that my next two targets are FR followed by FU.

Using the tricks above, I would do M' (U R U') M' (U R' U') M2

These are just commutators with a setup move that cancels, but you don't have to understand that to use them.

Hope that made sense. I just use speed optimal commutators for targets in the M slice now, but I learned these tricks from deadalnix and Macky.

Why not?

Learn PLL
Become sub 20.

Good for you. I think its mainly personal preference. It is true that F2L is HUGE factor with speed, but LL also can help significantly.

Do what you think you should do.

id say sub 6 for decent sub 3 for quite good

I'd say that sub-3 is more than "quite good".

I would consider a "decent" 2x2 solver to be sub 4 probably. (Note that I do not consider myself decent at 2x2. It didn't take very much practice to get where I am.)

So your saying theres only a second between decent and more than quite good?

For 2x2... yea that sounds about right tbh.

When 1 second is 1/3 of the total time...that's significant. That's like the difference between averaging 10 on 3x3 and averaging 13.33.

You should probably start moving on to intuitive F2L rather than improving your keyholing. These videos are very helpful:

Part 1
Part 2

Also, for future reference, it's possible to edit your previous posts, rather than posting twice. No big deal though. Good luck!
