For BLD, I'm using Y perm for corners (shooting from UBL to RDF) and I'm trying to switch from Old Pochmann edges to M2. When their are an odd number of Y perms (so parity I guess...) what alg do you use to restore the swapped edges? I do corners first then edges.

Assuming your buffer corner is UBL and your Buffer edge is FD, parity will have the UBL and UFL corners switched, and the FD and UB edges switched.

I personally solve it by doing a F-perm that has the bar to the right (imagine a cube with an f-perm on it, and the solved bar is on the right). Then I do M2, then solve by doing U2 M' U2 M' U2 M' U2 M', it's easy, I memorized it.

The order is:

1. Solve corners with Y perm
2. Do the 'bad' R perm (I use R U R' F' R U2 R' U2 R' F R U R U2 R')
3. Solve edges with M2
4. Parity fix: U F2 U' M2 U F2 U'
5. Do the bad R perm again

Steps 2, 4 and 5 are only required if there's parity
That alg definitely is not an R perm.

yes it is...

Wow.
I managed to do the alg wrong three times then, because I wanted to make sure I was right before I posted that.
I fail.

So if you have an odd number of y-perms then the FD and BU edges will always be swapped?

You can say so. Odd number of corners = odd number of edges so you'll always finish edges with the centres swapped, and BU and FD swapped.

Oh btw, there's an extra U' at the end of the R perm alg I forgot. So the full alg is R U R' F' R U2 R' U2 R' F R U R U2 R' U'.

Other good algs for that R perm are the RUB and RUD ones. Too lazy to type them out :p

I'm sure this has already been asked but I couldn't find an answer with the search function.

What is the cable needed to plug a Stackmat into a computer. I know it's an audio jack lead but what's the tiny port into the actual timer itself?

Cheers.

Looking to buy my first megaminx, pyraminx, and 5x5. What are some decent manufacturers of these puzzles? Thanks

Meffert's Megaminxes are very good. I have one. Much better than a chinaminx. Can't speak to the other two, though.
