what does the notation (Rr) mean on 4x4? I can't figure it out.
I believe that is the equivalent of Rw. So just turn the rightmost two layers 90 degrees clockwise.

I tried that for this alg. and It didn't work. It's supposed to swap the UF dedge and BF Dedge

r2 U2 r2 (Uu)2 r2 u2
(Dd)2 (Rr)2 U2 r2 U2 (Rr)2 (Dd)2

r2 U2 r2 (Uu)2 r2 u2
(Dd)2 (Rr)2 U2 r2 U2 (Rr)2 (Dd)2

Slice-Outer-Slice-Both-Slice-Slice
Both-Both-Outer-Slice-Outer-Both-Both

For the second one I prefer;
Rw2 Fw2 U2 r2 U2 Fw2 Rw2

yeah UB. My bad.
So.... you probably think I'm an idiot. But I still don't understand that notation...:(:fp:confused::eek::mad:

Haha, no big.

No.................not at all...

Rr ~or~ Rw = Double Layer Turn
R = Single Outer Layer Turn
r = Single Inner Layer Turn

Don't you just love it when you have absolutely NO idea what is going on( as was this case) and then all of a sudden it just clicks? I accidentally yelled out loud 'Cause I've been trying to figure this out for like 5 hours. haha

Thanks bro. Appreciate it.. I feel even more dumb now then before I didn't get it. :D

This thread was created so Minigoings could answer questions:D

There is also this.

Is a Ghost Hand a cube4you core with F-I cubies? Because I traded for a GH at a meetup recently and I took it apart and it's just that. Well, F-I cubies and a red core, that looks like a cube4you core.

There are a few types of Ghost Hands.

The GH2 is clearly not made with Type F pieces, as it is the cube with a "washboard" appearance on the edges, and centers, with ridges on the sides of the center pieces, partially truncated edges and very rounded corner legs.

The original Ghost Hand (probably the one you are referring to) has similarly shaped pieces, and the cube in general seems to be closely related. I'm almost positive that while GH is a Type F *clone*, it is a different cube.

The red core that you saw was probably swapped out by the owner. I for one replace a lot of my cores with C4U cores because I like the colour (light cube-dark core, dark cube-light core). They probably replaced the core to adjust the cube better, give the cube a better appearance, strengthen the cube, or any combination of those three points.

In short, the Ghost Hand is not just a Type F with C4U core.

I have a YJ 4x4 now, and I really like it, but the center layer misaligns too much. I don't really wanna do the pin mod because my 6x6's pins always fall out, so I'm afraid to do it. Is it worth it to get a Maru 4x4? How good are they?

While apparantly the Maru 4x4 is amazing (I'm ordering one soon!), if you really like your YJ there is something you can do. DaijoCube will do the entire mod (soldering the pins, sanding down, breaking in, washing, and lubing) for $20-$25 + shipping. You could contact him and see how much of the mod you would like, and how much it would cost and go from there.

Good luck.

what is the difference between Direct insert and Drop and Catch ... [?]

The difference is a bit technical. For BH we define a commutator to be ABA'B' where A is the insertion part of the commutator, and B is the interchange part of the commutator. The A part of the commutator is generally 3 moves, let's call those 3 moves PQP', and the B part of the commutator is generally 1 move. Every 8 move commutator in BH cycles 3 pieces, one of which is called the "lone" piece, and the other two are called the "interchangeable" pieces. The interchangeable pieces are the ones that are moved with the B part of the ABA'B' commutator, and the lone piece is the piece that is not moved by the B part of the commutator.

Now, the first part of the A part of the commutator (The P in PQP') can move different types of pieces. It can move exactly one interchangeable piece and nothing else, both interchangeable pieces and nothing else, all 3 pieces, or exactly one interchangeable piece and the lone piece.

The "Drop and Catch commutators" are the ones where the P part of PQP' moves:
1) exactly one interchangeable piece and nothing else
or
2) both interchangeable pieces and nothing else

The "Direct Insert" commutators are the ones where the P part of PQP' moves:
1) exactly one interchangeable piece and the lone piece
or
2) all 3 pieces

---------

Basically, the "Drop and Catch" commutators do not move the lone piece on the P part of PQP', and the "Direct Insert" commutators do move the lone piece in the P part of PQP'.

Thanks for the answer. It makes a lot of sense now.
