This may have already been asked before, i couldn't find anything about it and it is sort of a noob question.

Take your middle 3 times, add them together, and divide by 3.

check the regulations,
PS, take out your best and worst time and average the remaning 3
EDIT: ****ing ninja'd

In the Regulations, it says to hold White on top, green on front. If there is no white, use the lightest adjacent colour. This wouldn't be black, yet, when I was at a competition the cubes were scrambled with black on top

False.

To answer your question, most people regard black as white, because it is usually the opposite colour of the plastic. While it may not be 100% correct, it is usually considered the most sensible option.

Actually, True.

WCA regs said:
4d) Cube puzzles must be scrambled with the white (or the lightest colour by default) face on top and green (or the darkest adjacent face by default) on the front.

Cyrus: I would say that the main point of this regulation is for cubes with a non-standard colour scheme. If someone has 6 random colours on their cube then we apply 4d. However if their cube is clearly one of the standard colour schemes, but with white swapped for black, it only makes sense to scramble it as if black was white. This means that all the other colours will be in the same place as everyone elses cube (to maintain fairness).

I'm sure that was an oversight by the original poster. The meaning was clear...

No, he could be meaning the lightest colour adjacent to green, which would be incorrect.

EDIT: For that matter, it could have meant "the lightest colour adjacent to the darkest colour" which would be the lightest/darkest adjacent colour pair.
