1. what exactly is partial edge control?
2. what is the 3x3x3 match the scramble in the weekly comp?

1. when you insert the last f2l instead of going U R U' R' you do R' F R F', which flips two adj edges at the same time. It's useful in influencing the OLL.

2. MTS is when you scramble one cube with the scramble, then try and get another solved cube into that same position without using the given scramble.

Partial edge control isn't just this case, it is simply sometimes changing the orientation of LL edges by inserting the last pair in a different way (above is the most commonly used case though.

EDIT: First post using DVORAK :D

I actually never use this case, I only use it when I'm inserting at BR :p

hmm hows dvorak?

oh and

is the furtherest position on the 2x2 the Y perm? it takes exactly 11 moves
and
any tips on doing 2x2 BLD with Ortega? I have an extremely low sucess rate (about one in eight) and I can only look ahead to the full solve if the first layer takes less than five moves.

you forgot a parenthese, QWERTY FTW

Orienting the LL edges during F2L, by careful selection of F2L block insertion algs.

It doesn't have to be R'FRF'/FR'F'R instead of URU'R'/U'F'UF. Something like UFRU'R'F' or FRUR'F' would also orient two LL edges.

You didn't capitalize, and you spelt parenthesis wrong. DOES NOT MATTER FTW

Nice! How fast do you Dvorak? I'm really slow with it, but I know how to use it and where everything is, I'm just like 20 WPM.

Has anyone suggestions for a good Eperm? I can do D turns but if possible it shouldn't have double layer turns.

Well this is my first day with it so hideously slow... I got bored of being able to do 120 wpm with qwerty so that's my target for this :D

This is the alg Rowe and others can sub1:

(R U' R') D (R U R') D' (R U R') D (R U' R') D'

Really easy to remember and the trick is to do the D's with your left ring finger (pushing back motion).

This can't be correct.
http://alg.garron.us/?alg=(R_U-_R-)_D_(R_U_R-)_D-_(R_U_R-)_D_(R_U-_R-)_D-

It's acually:

x' (R U' R') D (R U R') u2 (R U R') D (R U' R')

[x' = top face goes to front]

Lol, this doesn't work either.

Could I be doing anything wrong? I don't see what.

This is what I use:

i think the original (R U' R') D (R U R') D' (R U R') D (R U' R') D' is meant to be x' (R U' R') D (R U R') D' (R U R') D (R U' R') D'. cuz it works for me
