Hey guys, I have a few questions, so I figured I might at well put them here.

I haven't been cubing for very long, and I average roughly 30 seconds. About when would be the time for going to competitions? What were YOUR times when you first went? I don't really want to go as is, I'd feel more like I'm getting in the way. The closest competition to me would be MIT Spring 2010, and it's only a short train ride away.

You are so lucky you live near heaps of competitions, go to them. Don't save it until you're faster, because there are competition nerves. Get used to comps.

My question, what 4x4 pairing method, does the fastest (official average) user, who uses plain redux use, and where can I learn it. Or, where is a good, but not slow explanation, of a method that can have redux sub 30 seconds?

Erik or Robert, I think Robert wasn't using the Yau method when he set his record. If he was, it was Erik with 2-at-a-time. Use bigcubes.com or any youtube tut for more info.

No, although I think you would be able to stop it a tiny bit faster if you had your other hand on the timer while finishing up.

Nah I'm almost certain it's the current 4x4x4 avg WR holder (Han-Cyun Chen)

He uses 6-2-2-2 edge pairing (I think). His style seems quite different...

Is it only on certain sites? If so, I'm experiencing the same problem. Speedsolving & Yahoo work great, but youtube crashes my internet. It's probably temporary though, so just wait it out.

Have you set up WEP security?(or WAP and its variants).
