I've looked into a video and a page and they contradicted each other.

The M rotates the middle of the cube vertically, but do you rotate it upwards or slide it downwards?

Thank you.

Here's an example. In the top left corner, if I use "M" on it, initially having the green side as the front, what colour would be my new front side? White or yellow?

Thank you!

M follows the direction of L, which is next to it in the alphabet, is the best memory tool I've heard.

Here it is.

Edit: it's because of his efficiency. Plus, his TPS is still pretty good without finger-tricks...

okay. about the F2L, im doing it intuitively now, learnt it from ParadoxCubing,CrazyBadCuber & Monkeydude1313.. havent learn any algs for F2L yet
quite new to this, should i keep on practising it first until im entirely familiar with the cases or should i proceed a lil bit further, if so, what could i improve other than looking ahead (im doing that now as well)?

1st I learn it from Paradox Cubing , before intuitive F2L i was doing the easy, beginners's F2L, which is insert corner first then edge piece. Then I saw CrazyBadCuber's and monekydude1313's video, its pretty much the same but i would love to proceed further. another problem is that im still haveing problem inserting backwards, dont quite understand it

Dont know why Ben got banned though for making that vid. I thought that he really proved some misconceptions that people had. anyway,

I learned F2L from badmephisto's videos. Search on google badmephisto, he has a whole website dedicated to CFOP. As far as algs go, I have never learnt them, I just tracked the pieces where thay go and do it kind of in a intuitive way!

Use intuitive F2L, algorithmic F2L is not practical at all. When you're just starting off, just play around with the cube. Hide pieces, experiment with different insertions, etc.

yeah, i've seen badmephisto's video, i learned the pll's from him, its very detail and easy !
and yep, ill give that a go :) cheers brian

how long did you have to work on your memory to get a successful big cube (4^3 or 5^3) BLD solve?

I don't think that getting a success has much to do with memory, I think it has more to do with other factors in a bigBLD solve. I've attempted 4BLD a handful of times, and 5BLD a few times, and have yet to get a success, but I would say that have succeeded in memoing the cube. For the most part, I think the memory aspect lies more in the "encoding" of the information than the recall. Using letter pairs practically splits in information in half, and you can create words and stories out of them which allow you to remember everything. But overall, I think that the time it would take you to learn 3BLD, get a success, practice a bit, do some MultiBLD attempts, learn 4+5BLD, do a few attempts, is plenty of time to get your memory up to par with the amount of information each requires. For reference, 4BLD is only about 2 3x3s, or about 40 letters. 5BLD is about double. So it's really not that much information overall.
