I am a decent cuber (around 25 sec) and I kinda have a plan of cubing stuff to learn in the next little while. It goes as follow (Not In Order Of Desired Completion)
1-Look Oll
1-Look Pll
Very Efficient Cross
Looking Ahead
Multislot F2L

What order should I learn them in? Also where is a good place to learn them from.
All help is appreciated

top priority: look ahead, 1 look PLL
next: efficient cross, multislot

Throughout entire thing until done: 1 look OLL

speedsolving wiki and practice mostly, you can use metronome for look ahead but basically just go slower and try not to pause between pairs. to see how well you know your f2l algs, do f2l pairs BLD (not while trying not to pause, this is completely separate)
for cross, try to do it BLD, do it on bottom, aim for sub 8 moves

for multislot, probably cubefreak

meh, I use partial edge control just so I usually don't end up with a dot case. As well rotation-less F2L can reduce time a lot. i.e. moves like Rw' U' R U M' to insert the back pairs

edit: I also recommend making a table in a word document or something so that you have all of your algs (for i.e. OLL) in one place. Many people don't do this, but it has sure helped me learn algs faster.

How do you find good and even tensions?
On 3x3 I just use the cyoubx method.

Depends a lot on the cube. On a WeiSu I think good tensions for me are the loosest possible so that it doesnt pop. With shengshou its something like that.

To get even tensions you have to diassemble it, screw the screws all the way in to the tightest position and then loosen them equally half a turn or 1 quarter of a turn at a time, until you can barely reassemble it. When it's reassemble you just have to pluck your screwdiver in between the gaps and loosen it again half a turn /quarter turn per side until it feels good and doesnt pop.

It's worth noting that sometimes you have to be 1/4th or even 1/8th turn accurate when tensioning 4x4s to find the sweet spot.

Bowtie OLL Problem

Hi everyone,

I have a problem with the bowtie OLL.
Not with the alg, but with the case itself.
Sometimes when the bowtie case shows up in a solve, I just solve it using the correct alg. (R U2 R' U' (R U R' U') (R U R' U') R U' R')
But for some reason it doesn't always work, like 50 percent of the times it just stays the same bowtie case.
It's really annoying because this case shows up quite often and it messes up my whole solve when it doesn't work.
Does anyone have experience with this problem, or had the same problem in the past?

Make sure you're doing it from the right AUF and not a U2 from what it should be.
E: Here are images to show you what I mean.

This case is solved with R U2 R' U' R U R' U' R U R' U' R U' R'. The two misoriented corners are pointing away.

I've had this problem before, during 2-look CMLL when I'm using the Roux method. Are you a Roux user too? Sometimes I confuse the bowtie alg (R U2 R' U' R U R' U' R U R' U' R U' R') with a slightly similar J-Perm (R U2 R' U' R U2 L' U R' U' L) which I use. I often get these 2 algs mixed up in the past because I was too focused on doing the alg that I forget which alg I am actually doing. My solution was to slow down/pause a little during CMLL to remind myself to perform the correct alg. After a while of getting used to the right alg, I have now no need to pause/slow down right after I recognise the CMLL case.

Oh so that's the problem!
Didn't know that it had different AUF's, haha.
Thanks for taking the time to reply!

Yeah I actually thought that I was doing the alg wrong, but it wasn't the case.
I actually used a different alg before I learnt the (R U2 R' U' (R U R' U') (R U R' U') R U' R') one, but it didn't help.
I use CFOP by the way.
Thanks for taking time though to reply! =)

I brought a new 2x2, so I decided to learn an advanced method. Currently I use CLL, but my algorithms are usually long for 2x2, since I'm using my standard CMLL set from 3x3. My average was about 5-6 seconds when I was in shape (long time ago...).

I want to reach decent times with learning decent number of algorithms. I'm not aiming WR, I just want an average in 2x2 which is similar to a sub-15 average in 3x3.
What do you recommend to learn: Guimond, Orthega, other?

EG. I dont think Ortega will get you sub 3 for example. Most Ortega users I know average around 5 seconds.

I think you should learn Ortega and use it when you can't find a good first layer, but you can find a better first face. It wouldn't hurt to learn some new CLL algs to replace the more awkward CMLLs. This can pretty much get you ~4s... and also sub3 if you get really serious.

I never really liked guimond tbh.

Having trouble with color contrast.

My FangShi ShuangRen V2 is a great cube, but the stock stickers flat out suck. When I solve, I am having trouble with the blue-green contrast, and I am wondering how much replacing the stickers would actually help.
