Rubik's is a well known brand, that explains some of the price. It has pretty much nothing to do with how the cube performs. Compare buying apple to buying the components of a computer yourself.
Most people (not speedsolvers) would probably think that buying anything else than a rubiks brand is a rip off.
I would put them on before when the surface of the plastic is at its cleanest. The stickers will stick better. Why would you put them on after breaking it in anyway, other than to extend the life of the stickers slightly?
I have not seen anyone put the stickers on when the cube is still disassembled. It's much easier when the cube is already assembled because then the puzzle lies flat and you have two hands to center the sticker. And you have to lube the core and internal pieces before/at the same time as assembling the cube, obviously. So...
1) Lubricate while assembling cube
2) Put on the stickers
3) Break in cube
I only solve big cubes and I use CFOP for my 3x3 part of the reduction. I hate CFOP for normal 3x3 solves so I never practice and therefore average about 27 seconds. Is there any methods that are better for the 3x3 solve on big cubes? I have tried roux, petrus, and ZZ but they obviously need too much inspection time to be very useful on a big cube.
PS. The methods I use for all big cubes give me a cross skip...don't know if that matters.
Edit: I didn't mean roux needed too much inspection. I just don't like M-slices on big cubes.
Is there a simple way to reduce the pausing time between triggers?
For example the Y Permutation is basically 2 OLLs, I inevitably pause between them. Trying not to pause messes up my execution of the alg.
Similar things happen with other OLL and PLL cases for me.
Yes. Florian, don't overdo it. Konsta it, and do it right. You'll get a main as soon as it's broken in. Otherwise you have a slightly better rubiks brand. Just my opinion, and I've modded 3.
I assembled my DIY Fangshi and it's perfect. The only problem is the DIY stickers suck, and the red wasn't cut properly, so it came out kinda rough. Can someone tell me what cubesmith sticker combo works well with a fangshi?

Because doing a single turn does a 5-cycle of corners which is made up of an odd number of 2-swaps. So there's nothing keeping it from doing 3-cycles. The hard part of the question is why does a cubes corner permutation not change in the subset <R,U>. I kind of understand that, but not well enough to explain it, so I'll refer you to Jaaps page on it. Here's the link:http://www.jaapsch.net/puzzles/pgl25.htm
