Most people use the CFOP/Fridrich method. It works by solving the cross, first to layers simultaneously, then orientation and permutation of the last layer in one step each. The world record holder uses it... You should check it out. Also give petrus, roux and ZZ a go too.

I recommend you learn from Macky's site which is where I first learnt it.
Cubing.net.

By the way, now I use an uncommon method called Roux. I've gotten pretty fast with it too (8ish sec). If you want help with it feel free to PM me. Even if it's about a different method.

good luck and always have fun when you solve, that's the important part :)

i'm pretty sure the majority of people started off CFOP (aka friedrich). good method, but as 5BLD said, try out others, they really do help in understanding the cube and can really help improve your solving, since there are many places where other methods help in optimizing steps of other methods.

Just saying, it'll take a LONG time to learn CFOP. I am NOT (I repeat NOT) trying to discourage you from learning CFOP, I am just saying that you should not expect to be able to learn CFOP in much less than a year. You should REALLY try and learn as many methods as you can eventually, I made the mistake of not trying the other methods, and now it's really hard for me to learn the other methods.

Seriously. Listen to this guy.
Good luck!

Im a newbie here and i have poor time 1:32 i still dont know any methods but i want to buy a cube that will work better which one is the best what do you think ? post websites that i can buy that cube from

A while ago I got a Rubik's brand 3x3 from a friend at school. When i got it it was very stiff so I lubed and worked it in now its better. My friend who previously owned the 3x3 removed all the stickers now its all black. I want to do some mod to it but what? Sticker or shape mod?

Really, I don't think changing stickers is a mod. But I would do a shape mod.

A sticker mod would be something like a Super cube/photo cube

Edit:
I recommend half-truncated, barrel or Fisher. Then you can post it in that shape mod thread that guy made that time.

Ok thanks i'll try one of them.
