How would I get faster at Master Magic? I avg. like 5-7 seconds.

Slow turning FTW.

Seriously, don't force it, just go slow. That magic P-word needs to be used, but sub3 is easily doable in a couple of weeks - even less.

My best times, certainly avgs, come from just holding a little back. Flat out I am less than 0.1sec quicker.

EDIT - oh, and don't use Ooms

Well keep in mind the DaYan Mf8 is known for popping... A lot.

Do you have one? Mine very rarely pops. Tbh my X-Cube pops more often. Neither pop much at all but when one does the X-Cube does it more and has larger pops. Two edges and center piece isn't uncommon. On my Dayan it's usually just one dedge piece. I am pretty rough during 3x3 phase though.

Should I lube my lanlan 2x2? With lubix or another lube?

Lubix works well, get the core of it of course. Be careful putting it back together. I guess I was a bit too rough and i now have a LanLan with a stripped core.

I hate 2x2. I'm no expert. EG is a ton of algs and CLL is part of EG iirc. EG is ~100 algs. Maybe more. For some reason 120ish comes to mind but it seems high. read the wiki articles about them and wait for someone who actually does 2x2 for a more informed answer. As far as I can recommend though it should be something like

intuitive CFOP----->Ortega----->CLL----->EG

However a lot of people stop at CLL

Going to even mention guimond or SS?
Honestly i think that Guimond has more potential than ortega even though both can be done sub-3. Both can be 2 step methods also.

OLLs are the same as on 3x3.

same cases, but not all the same algs if you want to be as fast as possible with Ortega

It's still learn-able in fifteen minutes.

definitely still agree with this though

EDIT: I agree with cincyaviation's above statement about Guimond having more potential than Ortega, even though i personally am faster with Ortega. If I actually cared enough, I know I could 2-look Guimond without even having to try that hard.

Ortega is 8 algs. It takes fifteen minutes to learn

I was really slow and incompetent at learning it. It took me about 30 minutes to learn.

I know Guimond as well as Ortega, but I'm pretty bad at both. It's still good enough to make me substantially less incompetent at 2x2x2 in competition than I am at 3x3x3. :)

Especially with the kind of 2x2 results we get in the Indiana/Ohio Comps. (That'll change when nats comes around.)

No, it really won't. I'm completely incompetent in both, but even at Nationals, I never do nearly as bad relative to the "field" at 2x2x2 as I do at 3x3x3, on a percentage basis. You're underestimating my incompetence at 3x3x3. :)

You know what, I think better option would be to jump right into CLL, seems like the fastest method, besides EG, but thats too many algs. Is this a good idea? I don't want to learn Ortega algs now only to not need them later.

Just so you know, if you were to use EG, every Ortega algorithm and every CLL algorithm are part of the EG algorithm set.
