I would still like to know if taking out the peg/stalk thing that holds the Gu Hong's 3 pieces of the corners in place would make the cube better. If i remember correctly pictures of the Lubix Elite did not have one of these.

Most people would put the Maru far behind every other cube, with maybe the exception of the rubik's brand. But there are also other good 4x4x4s out there such as x-cube and shengshou. That was when I averaged ~2:30 with Maru 4x4 (now I am in the 1:20 area). My Maru NEVER pops, and that is something that cannot be said of other 4x4's.

I squircle-modded my Rubik's brand, it's actually really good. But yea, I agree that it's pretty easy to trump a Rubik's brand.

I just got my lanlan 2x2. And, the purple side is much darker than the green side. By wca rules when scrambling your supposed to keep the lightest color on top and the darkest adjacent at the front. Am I supposed have purple or the traditional green on front?

It doesn't matter, but they will scramble it with green on front in comp. Atleast, that's how my lan lan was scrambled (with purp)

I was around 1:45 when using LBL + 2look oll and PLL, but after switching to intuitive F2l, my average has dropped to about 39 seconds

I agree. It was my fault I didn't properly read the question. I thought he/she was asking where a comp was. To really answer the question, Speedcubeshop and CubeDepot are great cubing stores and ship fast internationally.

the "with maybe the exception of rubik's brand" implies that he barely even thinks the maru is better than rubiks. I was saying that it is much more than barely.
And read the last sentence of my post. My Maru NEVER pops, and I have certainly seen the other "great" 4x4's pop. Frankly, I don't want to have to worry about my 4x4 popping mid-solve, and this is the reason I think Maru is better than other cubes.

it's old model and everyone wants better cube (this one isn't bad, it just insn't the best )

Joël van Noort has a very good Old Pochmann text tutorial. If you're more of the video type of person, badmephisto has an Old Pochmann video tutorial. If you want to learn M2, Eric Limeback has an M2/Old Pochmann video tutorial. Or, if you want to learn 3OP, Macky has an excellent 3OP text tutorial.


EDIT: I have a question. I'm going to try getting into another puzzle/event soon, should I go for 5x5x5, Square-1 or BLD?
